Still Frusrated!!
I am getting frustrated. I know that there is a three week stall, but seriously?? Is it supposed to last three weeks? I noticed in the last day or so that my weight is creeping up. It may just be a fluctuation, since I haven't weighed in a few days. On July 11, which was 2 1/2 weeks since my surgery i reached a number that I have been at for 2 1/2 weeks now give or take a pound or two.
I have been eating about the same thing every day. Eggs, cheese, and a little bit of chicken or turkey. Roughly about 725 cal. 60 Prot. 15 Carb.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or what I could be doing differently? I know I need to get more protien in, but I just do not like the shakes at all and adding eggs, etc, just would add all the more fat and calories.
Oh, and I work two jobs and haven't been able to work out or find a gym that fits my schedule.

I got the vsg on 6/27 not sure if we share the same date... But I keep my calories around 500-600 and carbs under 30 and protein between 60-80... I also hate doing the shakes.... But unfortunately I still do them to get my protein in for the day...also I had them beyond 30 days can't return them... My weight is coming off slowly and all I do is wa
K. 45 mins daily... Still haven't returned to work....

That has to be extremely frustrating! Since I'm still pre-op, I don't have any good advice of my own to share. Based on what I've been reading, your protein intake seems low. If the shakes don't work, have you tried adding unflavored protein to things you do like? Maybe into coffee, soup, anything like that. I hope things kick back in to gear soon. I'll be rooting for you!
Those stalls (any of them, they can and sometimes do happen frequently for some) can last WEEKS. I've went a month with nothing but tiny losses, and ticks UP on the scale. Stop weighing if it is something that is going to continue to stress you out.. continue tracking your cals/carbs/protein.. push the fluids.. I know they say 64oz, I say 64+, more like at least about100oz a day.. and just have patience. You are doing nothing wrong.
Jenn, I agree with Jo. Keep pushing fluids and keep your protein high. I know it's frustrating to stall because believe me, I stall every month now but just keep doing what you are doing and eventually the stall will break. And dont be surprised if you lose quite a bit of weight in the next week or two following that stall.
You are doing great gurl!!!

WWBD?
Hi, I am so sorry you're feeling so frustrated. I understand completely. I never had a stall that lasted that long, but when I had them, short as they were comparatively, they bugged me to no end!
First, I'm not sure when your surgery date was, so I may be a bit off base, but I'm figuring you're still pretty early out - maybe 5 or 6 weeks?
I'm seeing things a bit differently than some of the others who have replied. So here goes and I hope you don't mind. I'm trying to help you.....
At that stage I was getting maybe 600 calories in a day. I honestly see no reason to push the calories early out, if you are satisfied with a lower volume of intake.
I am going to suggest you gag down at least one shake a day. You need more protein than you're getting according to the plan I followed. Protein is not optional, IMO, so try to think of the shake as medicine. You just gotta do it.
Okay, and here's the part that is going to be most controversial..... You say you're taking in about 725 calories, 60 protein, 15 carbs. That's 240 calories of protein and 60 calories from carbs. That leaves a whopping 425 calories from fat. So more than 50% of your calories a day are coming from fat.
I always tried to make sure that 2/3 of my daily calories were protein and that the other third was split between carbs and fat.
I also will pass on some advice given to me by my surgeon. Take it or leave it. Cheese and nuts are not weight loss foods. They need to be severely restricted during WL. His only concession was using Laughing Cow wedges and low fat string cheese. Otherwise he really recommends staying away from cheese. He believes for most people cheese is a high calorie, high fat slider.
I think you need to consider upping your protein to 80 grams a day and upping your fluid intake to 80+ ounces a day, too. Whenever I needed to kick start my weightloss, making sure I was between 80 and 100 grams of protein and drinking over 80 ounces of water always got me losing again.
I know my advice is a bit contrary to what others are saying. Just telling you how I see it.

I've had the same problems. Part of it is my hormones. I have PCOS and have had 3 periods in the 6 1/2 weeks since surgery. You're not doing anything wrong, other than maybe not drinking enough.
I saw my nutritionist yesterday and she said it's completely normal that I keep plateauing. Week 3 and 4, I only lost 2 pounds each. Lost 7 pounds week 5! Then nothing at all since. She said a lot of people have a stairstep pattern to their losses and not to worry unless you start really gaining.
I spent a lot of time depressed during the last couple of weeks, but I've decided not to worry anymore. It's frustrating as HELL to be eating only 700 calories and not lose for 2 weeks or more, but I at least know I'm eating healthier and getting healthier.
I kept telling my husband I had surgery for nothing, because so far, I lost more before surgery than after (only 22.5 since surgery). I know in reality that I'm exaggerating though. Just have to keep plodding on and hope my body decides to cooperate soon.

VSG on 04/11/12
It is normal to go through stalls, and YOU are doing Great you just had your surgery a month and 1/2 ago, and You lost over 30 lbs, That is Awesome, Everyone varies. so don't let the numbers get to you, Stalls do go in phases, Just hang in there and think long term Goal , and you are all headed on the right path, I can relate to all above !
I am going to jump in and say I agree with Kairk, you'd probably do better to shift your calories from fat to protein. I know you don't like them, but the absolute lowest calorie way to get in protein is with protein shakes. Nectar Syntrax flavors are 100 cal a scoop and will give you 23 g of protein. Nothing beats it. The Chocolate Truffle is quite nice, I think, and I am currently a little overly enamored of the Double Stuffed Cookie. You won't have any trouble hitting your protein numbers if you do one shake a day. Have you tried some of the ready-to-drink shakes? Oh Yeah? Premiere? EAS Carb Control? Some people prefer these to the powders. Think of it like medicine. You don't have to like them, just tolerate.
I personally love a big mug of coffee, mixed with my protein powder and about 3 oz of almond milk. "The best part of waking up..." Good luck!
Thanks everyone, Happy and Karik, I will definitely start "taking my medicine". I feel like the easiest, quickest fixes are sometimes the eggs and/or single serving cheeses. I have been doing the laughing cow baby bels, (I got the original because they were out of the light). I will check out some RTD shakes...mater of fact, I put one in the freezer a while ago...better go take my medicine...bottoms up...wish me luck on keeping it down...
