Happiness THREE Ways!

Hi Everyone,
Today is my one month surgiversary and my 65th birthday. And there's another thing special about this week for me.
First, since June 28th, I've lost 25 pounds and 18 inches. Those 25 pounds don't include those nasty 8 pounds of fluid I gained in the hospital. I saw one of my surgeon's on Thursday and he's going to let me start exercising on Monday if my other surgeon approves when I see him that morning. I also begged to be allowed to get in my pool -- it's been soooooooo hot and humid this year. Two more weeks and I'll be "in the swim" so to speak LOL My VSG incisions are ready, but the hernia repair incisions are not ready to be submerged......but 2 more weeks can't be that bad to have to wait!
I know that following the "rules" of my plan enabled me to kick those 25 pounds and 18 inches. Each day I challenge myself to have my 60-70 grams of protein, drink a minimum of 64 ounces of fluids, and I keep my carbs under 20 grams (even though I'm allowed 40) and calories under 600. A few changes will come in the next 2 months: protein goes to 70-80 minimum and calories can go to 800 if necessary -- can't see that happening -- can barely eat 1/4 cup of anything at this point. I love my protein shakes to help me reach my goals!
Second, turning 65
is a wonderful thing! A few years ago, reaching this age didn't seem all that doable..............but with research and some dietary changes and other improved habits, I got here and now with my beloved sleeve (her name is Myrtle), I have hopes that in 30 years I'll become that cute little old lady of 95 who uses lavender hankies to help with the "vapors" LOL
And that other special thing about this week? Well, my wonderful younger son and his lovely wife told me that I'm going to become a Grandma in March of next year!!!! I can barely wait to become a rockin' Granny LOL
How much happiness can one person deserve? I'm thrilled about my life and all that I have to look forward to. And I'm learning NOT to let the "killjoys" in this world ruin anything for me!
I wish I could give every single one of you this incredible feeling of wallowing in this "bowl of happies" -- we all deserve to feel this way.
Hugs to all,
Ree

Happy birthday!
Also congrats on both your weight loss and your incipient grannyhood. I'll be a first time gramma in January myself and am pretty excited.

Thanks so much! If this new one is anything like his father, I'm going to need roller skates to keep up with him/her.
