Well I have to say I am still excited! I thought I might get more nervous as the time when by but for now I am just thrilled. The only thing I am dreading is having my mother come and help out while I am in the hospital. She tends to be a Debbie Downer and require alot of attention. For once I hope she realizes that i need to take care of me and she needs to take care of herself.

Anyway I am down 7 lbs and couldn't be happier!

Wow, not only is my VSG scheduled for the same day, but I have the same stressor on my mind!  Everyone keeps asking me if I'm scared but I'm just so excited for what's to come :)   I've already had a chat with my mom and tried to set boundaries. Since I'll be in the hosptial for 3 additional nights, I told her she's welcome to spend the first night with me but after that I'd like to be on my own and I'll be in good hands.

Wish you all the best!

Oh I'm so sorry ladies that your mother's can be less than joyful for you. I have to admit, that my mom has been a blessing through this whole process for me. I dont know what I would have done without her. I too have my surgery on the 13th. I went today to the hospital for pre-admit type stuff and after leaving, I found myself Excited! The jitters are gone. I wish you both luck with the days to follow and with your moms. Hope they are nothing but attentive, caring and kind to you.
way to go with your 7 lb loss. We are rockin already!

My mom is just terrified for me, she seems more nervous about this surgery than I am -- I couldn't be more thrilled!  She cares a lot, sometimes too much to the point of being overbearing, and forgets that I am an adult capable of calling my own shots.  The last time I was in the hospital for something, we had a disagreement because she was trying to control everything and couldn't sit still or stop fussing -- she even scared off my nurses. I was in pain and just wanted to be left alone.  When she gets emotional, I'm usually the one in the family who can communicate with her best and the one she confides in -- what worries me is that I know next week I will not be in the right headspace or mood to attend to her emotions when I'm dealing with all of my new changes.  That's why I had a talk with her, and the rest of my family one-on-one so that I will have support in dealing with her.  I know I can't afford to put my energy into taking care of her when I need to make sure I get well and get home healthy.  This whole thing has been a silent stressor in the last couple of weeks, but I'm glad that it's been dealt with and grateful to the OP for bringing it up! :)

Good luck with your surgery, as well!!! My last weigh-in with my NUT is tomorrow afternoon, then I'm on my own until Monday when I go in...I'm so excited for all of us!

My mother is bipolar schizophrenic and in general in bad health. She had gastric bypass several years ago but refuses to be a compliant patient and is always sick or tired or complaining. We don't have a good relationship but she would be irate if I didn't include her so I am trying to bend a little and make this work. Thank goodness my father will be here and can keep her out of my hair. All I need is my mother in my room needing more attention from the surgeon and nurse than I do. LOL

No kidding she once took over my appointment with my therapist simply because she felt her needs were more severe. LOL
