what surprised you most just after surgery?
How tired I was. I thought I was tired before the surgery, but man oh man, after I was wiped out for several weeks.
I was expecting serious gas pains, which never happened. I was just tender - I was never in pain after the morphine in the hospital got started. (And if I may, if you have access to a hyperbaric clinic that treats off label - check out pre-and post surgery treatment. I am convinced that is why I had an easy time!)
Also, I had no idea how long it could take to drink a protein drink :).
I am adjusting to buying groceries, we just don't need large packages of meat anymore. When I cook something, depending on what it is, I put 1-2 ounces of it chopped tiny into storage bags, half go in the fridge, half goes into the freezer. My cooking time is so much less with all these leftovers.
The other thing that I'm still trying to get is timing of water. I'll drink water because I don't think I'm really hungry, and then I realize "nope, it's time for a little fuel" and then I have to wait 30 minutes to eat, and then I eat a little too fast. I think I need to get a little more regimented in my schedule.
I have only thrown up once and it was after eating eggs which was iffy before surgery, I shouldn't have tried it. No slimes, no foam. I guess I'm surprised that it's been a relatively easy process.

I was surprised that all I really wanted was savory tastes. All I preparred with was sweet type protien, yogurt etc. When I found Unjury Chicken soup flavor I was saved.
I was also surprised how easy the recovery was. I was tired and had to rest when my body said to but I was back at work in 2 weeks and active well before that.
My surgery was a band to sleeve revision, laproscopic, and outpatient.
Good luck, you will do great, were all here for support.

I had trouble drinking water. Which was tough because I love water. Avoiding dehydration is a must.
I had no desire to eat whatsoever. Friends brought all my favorites to my house for their meals, and I didn't care for at least 3 months. The first month, I had two friends who stopped by or called to make sure that I remembered to eat. One friend said one night that she would leave after I ate something. I said, "I just ate!" She said that she had been there for over 4 hours, and I didn't eat a thing. Now, I was also taking Dexilant for acid reflux so I didn't have the acid/hunger feeling that people complain about.

I was shocked at not being hungry. I knew that this would likely happen from the surgeon's speech, but to experience it was something totally different. For the first time in my life, I could have cared less if I ate one bite of anything. It was remarkably liberating. I was further happily surprised to find out that I had no issues at all getting liquids down and relieved that I had such a super easy recovery post op. Then, there was the excitement. It kind of ruled my house for those first 2 weeks- it was obviously a major adjustment eating wise, but the newness of everything was very shiny and exciting. It was truly a great experiene!
