I also had to walk the same day and up at 6am meaning sitting in a chair they had in the room and was not allowed to get in the bed tell lights out at midnight. But if I wasn't sitting in the chair through out the day I was walking the halls.

Every two hours for me.  Started about an hour after I woke up.  The walking helps.  It sucks, bad, but it helps.

As soon as you are awake enough to realize that you need to be walking is when you need to start walking. Go as slow as you need to, but any movement at all is better than laying in bed and increasing the risk of blood clots.

Within hours.  It is recommended to get up and moving as soon as possible and as frequently as possible.  It will help with getting rid of the residual gas fro surgery, pain, and speed healing.

I was out walking around the halls within 4 hours after surgery I didn't really have any pain or stiffness Iwas a little sore but the more you walk the easier it is on you.
