Yup, only a small percentage (5%) will be able to keep the weight off more than a couple of years. And yes--there are biggest loser contestants who have gained most or all of the weight back within a few years.

As a matter of fact, Renee Wilson who was the mother of Biggest Loser winner Michelle Aguilar, went on to have vertical sleeve gastrectomy after she had gained most of the weight back that she lost on Biggest Loser.

Thanks for that link!!  Very intersting...

I hope more and more people in the public eye start turning to the sleeve rather than RNY and banding.   It is really one of the most efficent ways to get the word out to the morbidly obese that there IS a wonderful new option!!

Nutshell:

Lost 140 lbs with VSG. (Hooray!!)

got pregnant  (yeaaaa!)

got cancer (boooo!)

regained 40 lbs.   (grrrr!)

In summary: Alive & Grateful.

The black girl featured-Nina, I follow her on You tube.
She lost her weight at 23 and has kept it off 6yrs.

However, she is very dedicated and changed her whole lifestyle. I would say the "regular" way is harder with the hunger factor.

I just hate that the media likes to push a negative picture of WLS. Most people need help losing 100 pounds.
