This is not an admonishment. We all have other health issues wether they are weight related or not. In my case RA. Due to how slow I heal, my doctor said he would nit consider my surgery successful until I am two years out w/o a leak. He has said and other information that I have read says you have a 50% chance of survival if you catch it in time. So I ask my self, is it worth risking my life?

My surgeon said the better I followed the post-op plan on schedule, the better I'd heal and be able to eat more variety later. That proved to be true. I was careful in the beginning and have been able to tolerate anything since 3-4 months out. If you dont follow the plan, you compromise your healing. Of course, there are different plans out there. My doctor wanted a few weeks of liquid then mushies then soft food. About 2 weeks out, they told me I could try watered down refried beans. Bleck, it was awful. I had total pain and tightness. I decided to err on the side of caution and was super careful after that. If I had tuna, I put mayo on it and made it mushy. Same with boiled eggs. My stomach loved sugar free hot chocolate at first. It calmed my stomach. Then later, I enjoyed cold water but only with some packet of flavor in it. It's weird how your body changes and it really needs the protein and time to heal.

I completely understand about the cold beverages! My tummy doesn't like cold anything right now, so I drink room temp water and warm tea all day. It is the only way I can get my fluids. I am not allowed to have beans or mashed potatoes though like many people can, so It will be tuna and chicken salads for me in mushy stage,  I start that in 1 week.

Different surgeons, different plans. I was allowed the spuds and beans, but no meat, fish or poultry until after my first 30 days. Even then I learned quickly to take a tiny bite, chew well, swallow and wait for "permission" to send down the next bite.

I don't buy into the "Were all Human" line.......and it doesn't happen to the best of us......

I think some people are less smart than others..... and some have more commitment than others......

If you get most your stomach cut out and the instructions are to follow a safe plan of progression.....

What part is hard to understand ????

You can get dead......

I do not have an issue with understanding anything, like I said, I am just looking to hear more about people's experiences. Just because people ask a question, does not mean we do not understand something, just looking for more info.. I said I was having a discussion with people, and I didn't have much else to go on other than what the surgeon said. I wanted more info, but that does not mean I do not understand. WTH, it was just a question, and the :we are all human and it happens to the best of us line" was to give people the benefit of the doubt, because yes, people do make mistakes, but I do not agree it means they are less smart, just made a bad choice, nobody is perfect, and people make bad choices, which for some, got us to WLS in the first place.

As usual I see things from a different perspective then Frisco.  Personally, I think if somebody is looking to validate their cheat they don't need Oh for that.  What they do need Oh for is help in getting back on track.  Admitting a cheat typically spurs suggestions and strategies from vets, along with some condenscending posts typically.

I think that we all had weight loss surgery because we are a serious bunch of fatties who knew no bounds when it came to overeating.  Just because we had surgery doesn't mean that a magic wand was waved and those overeating tendencies just disappear.  It is a work in progress.

Most people here have a cheat every so often.  They don't feel good about it, they do not look to repeat it, but hopefully they are able to deal with it and move forward in a positive direction.

I cheated a bit in the early phase- mostly rushing phases.  For example, in the pureed phase I couldn't stomach the idea of actually putting the eggs in a puree form so I smushed them with the fork and took extra time chewing to allow the saliva to do it's job.  I am not proud of that and I don't recommend it.  But it was part of my journey.  I have a sleeve of steel so it has been very kind to me- no vomiting, foamies ever.

With all that said I would have never made it to goal if I was cheating constantly.  I was consistently very good.  Anyone can mfp friend me to view my diary- I am idateacher2 over there.

Has nothing to do about being perfect........

This kinda post comes up every once and a while.....

While the OP says (and I believe her) that she is looking for "Cheaters" and there experiences......

Fine..... valid question.....

What normally happens is that it starts a free for all of other posters looking for validation for "Cheating"...... You'll get...... "I ate Taco Bell a week out.....it was calling my name" than "I ate chicken wings 2 weeks out and I was fine...... Iron gut here" or "I'm a week out and I put a slice of pizza in the blender"........

So now everyone feels better about their "Cheats"

And it's really not a "Cheat"...... A cheat is Chocolate cake when your cleared for all foods.........

Eating off plan during food progression is plain and simple going against medical advice that has repercussions of actual harm to yourself.......Eating Mac and Cheese after your cleared for all foods just means you may go way over your numbers for the day......

The truth is that you most likely won't hurt yourself......but why even take the chance..... you can promote a bleed or rupture the staple line.......

The bigger problem is the the high number of people that read the forums and read about people eating wrong foods before their time and nothing happened..... than they are more tempted to "Cheat"

Ya know... I like this Frisco:

> And it's really not a "Cheat"...... A cheat is Chocolate cake when your cleared for all foods.........

I think that's the BIG difference in the cheating we hear... There should NO cheating until you're cleared for all foods. Interesting, I guess it didn't even dawn on me to think she meant that, to be honest.

You made the pizza comment, but I'll never forget one of my first support groups actually hearing someone on mushies talking about blending up pizza toppings. I was like WTF?
