My first try of scrambled eggs caused the foamies then vomiting. It was horrible and painful. I waited quite a while before attempting those again and they were part of the plan. For me, the guilt from eating off plan is the worse. I've made such an investment in myself and feel like a failure not to do well by my sleeve.

I "cheated"... lmao...2 days pre-op liquid diet....and I "cheated" my first week post op!  and I  have "cheated" chronically since...what 4 years now. even after being instructed on what Im supposed to eat for the rest of my life once on a regular diet (2 months post op).....I don't follow it ..I cheat if ya wanna call it that! Im not a hypocrite or an OCD follow my post op rules to the letter and LIE about it here type either......so here goes..

The only things that happens when ya "cheat" at your stage...are

PUKE, PAIN or HORRIFIC GUILT!  so pick yer poison CAREFULLY! lmao!

YOU WILL NOT RUPTURE YOUR STAPLE LINE,  IT IS NOT LIFE THREATENING to eat sumthin off plan!!  I read a couple of your replies here...Im seriously

Your not an idiot..so I won't treat you like one. Nor do I believe your surgeon is incompetent either!
but gave ya a well SEALED...sleeve!  Know that LEAKS originate at surgery. they do NOT randomly happen. You have nothing to do with causing a leak!..unless of course you're into swallowing razor blades, or swords!
No amount of food/off plan eating will cause a LEAK! ..it was already there! Most leaks if they were not caught in the OR or post op leak test.....are discovered by 4.5 weeks post op..when incisional swelling and inflammation significantly reduce!

The progression in texture dietary phases is to promote staple line healing.

I highly recommend spit don't swallow if ya have a need to CHEW something with texture...same with SF gum - spit don't swallow
Thinning and blenderizing any foods you may be tempted to try
you cannot chew and swallow to the consistency necessary without causing SIGNIFICANT pain/gastritis

PAIN, PUKING, or HORRIFIC GUILT...pick your poison ...ahead of time!

BE GOOD to YOU!

Thank you Carmelita for finally answering the question RIGHT!  Some people on here seemed to be very disrespectful in their responses.  I'm smart enough to know that cheating is bad...but...I deal with a 9 yr old and an 18 month old almost daily and guess what...while handing the baby an animal cracker last week I caught myself unconciously trying to pop one in my mouth, old habit, I didn't conciously think "oh i want a cookie so I should eat it"  It was a mindless slip and thank god I caught myself before it when in my facehole!  SO NO I haven't cheated no plan to...I've lost 20 lbs since surgery which is proof enough to me that not cheating works.... thank you for your wonderful reply.  I appreciate it greatly!!!

Ummmmm...... How would you know if she answered the question "RIGHT"???

If you want to think that a leak cannot happen after surgery.........Just go with that thought......

I simply meant that she answered the question in the right context.  Instead of going on the offensive and accusing any of us newbies of making excuses to cheat she told us her experience and what her worst case scenario.  I just like to think that the more educated I am about my sleeve the better outcome I will recieve.  I value your opinion just as much Frisco, just please remember, we are new to this.  Don't you think we beat ourselves up enough to keep the demons at bay?  Thankfully I am too early out to feel any sort of tempation to food thats not on my list but I know that day will come.  Its up to me to get the "mental" tools to learn how to cope with it.  yeah my therapist can help me some, but do I want to hear it from some skinny lady who never had surgery or do I want to get it from the mouths of the people who have travelled the same path as I am taking?  And for reference I will be talking to my surgeon about rupturing the suture like of my sleeve.  I am curious about that.  :)

I'm thinking, if you don't eat on plan, you're only cheating yourself!! With whatever outcome it gives you!
