Sorry for your loss. I do know how you feel I had to put down my baby girl Ripley, 1 month after my VSG surgery.  Learning to deal with pain with out numbing out on food is such a difficult thing.  I wish you the best.  May your puppy be welcomed over the rainbow bridge and be running about playing with mybaby girl pain and care free. sending electronic hugss

I'm so sorry. Our pets truly are our family. My thought are with you. As far as grief... what do you do for YOU that YOU enjoy? A walk? A trip to the gym? Massage? Yoga? Do something very super kind for yourself. xoxo

My heart goes out to you, I've been there before too and yes it truely sucks! I think the best way to heal tho is to feel the feelings all the way thru to the end. Not easy but nothing worthwhile in life is. Take a walk and remember the good times.

I'm one of those that has to get another fur baby right away to help heal, hubby not so much. So out of respect for him I waited close to six months but dang that was hard. All in good time tho because right at 5 mos. I found an adorable ****er spaniel that had her last litter at a breeders and they were looking for a good home for her. Well hubby took one look at her pic and said ok let's go look at her. Of course she ran right over to him, not me, he melted and I paid. We picked her up a month later after her pups were weaned. I usually would have gotten one thru the humane soc. but all they had were big dogs and I needed a smaller one that I could handle.

So yes give yourself time to grieve and when you are ready give some other fur baby a wonderful home instead letting it sit lonely at a shelter. I just read something on facebook about how dogs take a piece of your heart when they leave, but they also bring a piece of their heart when you adopt and if you are lucky by the end of your life your heart will be pure dog. Bless you for loving your baby enough to let go, that takes strength and bravery.

I am so sad & sorry for this sad, sad day.  It sounds like we all know how hard it was for you & that you will miss him for quite a while.  If it makes you feel better to have company -- I've been crying like a fool the entire time I've been reading your post & the replies.  I had to put 3 of my babies down over a 1 yr period & all were well into their teens.  Puppies heal many things -- I would already be on PetFinder!  I need to go get a Kleenex now & give my dog a big hug for you.

Obby will always love you unconditionally.

Dogs are members of our family, and the grief process is just as real and just a valid as losing a human family member. I agree with an earlier post that you have to let yourself feel the grief as fully and terrible as it is. The stronger it is, the more fully you can experience it and get through it. If you need a Xanax or two to get through the nights, I think that is okay, too. You need to be able to sleep in order to function.

I'm sorry for your loss. He is beautiful.

I'm so sorry to hear about your doggy. I know pets ARE our family and no matter when the time it always hurts to lose them. Years ago when I was growing up I lost my first real kitty cat Furball and I was just devastated. To this day I can't think about the spot where he was taken from me without tearing up. I echo what everyone else here has said to just be very kind to yourself today and in the days to come and no that, no matter what, he is ALWAYS going to be with you. You'll be in my prayers tonight that you have peace and that love surrounds you every waking moment so that you know you are not alone in this. We all grieve with you.
