OT: Aaaargh. Want a new coat, what size to buy. Aaaargh.

I'm a dummy.  It doesn't come in S M L, but in 8/10/12 etc which actually makes it easier for me to guess.

I think you're right, and it's why I figured I wouldn't worry if it ended up too big.  Sweater under it, or just loose, not a big deal with a coat.

Have you tried EBay?  You won't find one of the new coats, but you can find a Land's End wool coat at a discount price.  My search for Lands End Wool Coat pulled up 83 hits.  Might be a good compromise?
