Is there a drug I can take that will make me enjoy cooking?

I can cook! I've gotten raves from hubby and others but damn if it isn't comparable to cleaning the house. Like another chore. I just want a hot chef. Preferably G Garvin, shirtless in my kitchen. I'd eat anything that man cooked. Lol. I'm not creative so I must dig up recipes or I would eat the same stuff every day like a robot.

Listen honey *appropriate hands on hips stance*...YOU AND ME ARE GONNA HAVE TO BOX FOR HIM!!!   I may even have to  chop you!

WHOOO GOOD LORD THAT MAN IS FINE!!!!    (At least until he takes off the glasses...something about him without the glasses just didn't appeal to me).

I can tell you if HE was in my kitchen there would be some COOKING going on alright...me, him, the countertop, some ice....

Wait...sorry...what were we talking about again? I got totally and completely lost with this thread after you said G. Garvin.

*back to your regularly scheduled suggestions to improve your food*

Crabadams72 you are not far from me in MD, next time I'm visiting in DC we shall have to have a G. Garvin marathon...he's even did shows in our neck of the woods...maybe we will stalk him! BWAHAHAHAHAAH!

I make a super simple, moist chicken meal....

I buy onion and peper stir fry (white onions, green, red, and (somtimes) yellow peppers sliced up)
I start frying them in a pan until they are thawed....
then I add some fat free italian dressing....

while this is sauteeing....I slice and dice chicken breasts into peices....

add then to mix...add a little more dressing....

coo****il chicken is done and the dressing become more like a glaze....

spoon and serve!

Simple, fast and MOIST!!!!!  (Tasty too)

Thanks for the great ideas. Ever since surgery, I've been using pinterest to collect healthy low-carb recipes. I'm amazed at the yummy stuff I've found and made. My family has been gobbling everything up. My only requirements are that the recipes use nutritious healthy ingredients. No empty calories or empty carbs. I just started real food the other day, and I think it's been a long time since I've enjoyed eating as much as I do now.

OMG!!!  I laughed so hard when I read that you referred to chicken as the tofu of non-vegan proteins!!!

I'm a vegetarian, so I love that you put tofu in that context.  Usually people say certain vegetarian foods are comparable to certain meats... as if the vegetarian version is just a second rate version of some "real food."  Seeing it flipped like this made me a bit happier than it should have... but it did make me happy.

I agree with your post, though... food is only boring if we make it boring.  Some people seriously lack creativity.  To them I say, get thee to the spice aisle!!

Nutshell:

Lost 140 lbs with VSG. (Hooray!!)

got pregnant  (yeaaaa!)

got cancer (boooo!)

regained 40 lbs.   (grrrr!)

In summary: Alive & Grateful.

I am not bored at all with my food YET. I pretty much eat the same things all the time but I know the day s coming when I cannot eat another hard boiled egg or plain yogurt so I was a very good cook before surgery and I'll have to put my creative hat back on when I get tired of what I'm eating. I do enjoy spicey foods so I am sure I'll be hitting the crushed red pepper and cayenne heavily.

My kitchen is filled with jars of Indian curries, Thai curries, different salsas, lemons, limes, vinegars, etc.

Last night I had tilapia pan-cooked with lemon juice and habanero salsa and some roasted corn. I also do shrimp with ponzu sauce, or chicken with, well, anything.

I get really good chicken sausages from our local charcuterie, but Trader Joe's also has some fantastic chicken sausages.

Since food is fuel now, but I still want it to be tasty, I am loving the simplicity of a sautee pan, some chicken, and a choice of pastes, sauces, marinades, etc. from around the world.

I am a huge foodie, and that is never going to change.  Fortunately, it doesn't have to change in order for me to lose or maintain my weight.  I love cooking and so does my husband.  We often one-up each other in the kitchen.  There is a million things that can be done with protein, veggies, and fresh spices.  The meals are never boring.  I do, however, tend to eat some of my favorites over and over again.  It's not because I can't think of something else, it's just that I become a little obsessed with a particular dish and keep craving it.  Lately, it has been my Middle Eastern soup with wild mushrooms and lite sour cream.  I just want to eat it all the time.  It's no problem as it's really good for me.
