hair loss

I started taking Biotin as recommended by the nurses in my dr. office. It's working. I take 5000 mcg per day. (one pill)
As for gallstones - I just had my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago. I"m 5 months post op. I was having some issues and after an ultrasound showed sludge (only) I had it taken out. However, after the pathology report, they found 10 gallstones, so I'm guessing they don't alwasy show up on the ultrasound.
I feel fine now(expect from recovering from the second surgery). I can eat anything and have no pain
Sorry about the hair. Just make sure you get as much protein as possible and take a Biotin supplement.
As for the gall stones, they are not so much caused by the WLS itself as the rapid weight loss. The liver does all of the heavy lifting in breaking down fat. A byproduct of that is a build up of sludge in the gall bladder.
Many surgeons recommend a course of usodiol/Actigall for 6 months after surgery to help combat this. A lot of this will depend on your own history and likelihood of gall bladder issues. If you are concerned, speak to your surgeon about it.

As far as Gallstones...yes having weight loss surgery puts you at higher risk for gall stones. They can appear after excessive weight loss. They don't necessarily show up on ultrasound, I swear I have had gallbladder attacks for a while now, but they were never found on an ultrasound until recently. If you have ever had an attack (pain in the upper right abdomin after a fatty meal is the most common) mention it to your doctor so they can be aware. I mentioned it prior to surgery, they found the gallstones and will be removing it when they do my sleeve.
