I don't know what to do!!! (Women Problems!)

I really feel so lost right now. I gained 2 pounds since Sunday (PS, my goal was to NOT step on the scale until next Sunday, I threw that away pretty fast). I have no idea if this is just a normal stall or if my body is fighting weight loss. I had surgery 3 weeks ago today, I lost about 12 pounds week one (not including the weight I lost from IV fluids), got Mirena and basically have lost no weight (well, I have lost and then gained and lost and then gained) in the two weeks since I it was placed. I am having terrible bloating, cramping, and have been bleeding for almost 2 weeks (not to mention the intense roller coaster of emotion).  I feel so disappointed and so confused about what to do. If this problem is going to go away, then I could stick it out, but I know.  Some women have these symptoms for months after they get mirena, and honestly I just don't have the patience for that.  If I stick it out that long I could totally lose my biggest window for the most weight loss.  It just feels like my body is fighting against me.

I think I might call my OB today and see what they say. I am starting to consider having it taken out.

So sorry you are having this trouble. I got my Mirena a week before surgery and don't feel like it has slowed down my loss (32 pounds in 4 weeks) but of course I don't have anyway to know what I'd have lost without it. I was pretty lucky and didn't have much bloating, cramping or other discomfort after the second day it was in. I've had a bit of random spotting, but my OB says that is normal for the first 6 months. Maybe call your OB and see what they recommend? Good luck!

Don't worry about the scale, just because it flucuates does not mean your not losing inches, plus the first month is always a little weird for everyone while your body is adjusting. Have some faith!

Thank you both. I'm sticking to plan, but definitely feeling overwhelmed by this. I guess it just seem SO connected to the bloating and stuff that it seems like the mirena is causing it. I know it's only two weeks, but it's so frustrating putting in the effort and then seeing the scale go up instead of down. Anyway, I will just keep on moving.

The scale will move, sometimes it's just crazy like that you will gain 2lbs, then you will loose 7lbs. Just keep doing what you suppose to and it will happen.!!!

You'll be fine.  You're probably coming in to the realm of the 3 week stall and as frustrating as that is it WILL pass.  Some people "gain" a little during this stall and others just stay in place.  You'll be back to losing in NO time!

Don't worry. Your body is adjusting to to 2 things and your hormones are off  you will regulate soon. I learned early on don't look at the scale. You will drive yourself nuts. Don't worry About rapid weightloss, it took a lifetime to put it on and it will come off. Just work your program and make sure you are drinking your water and exercising! blessings to you!

I am three months out and had the Mirena placed a week before surgery. I still have the cramping and pains from the Mirena...I hate it. I scheduled an appt to get it removed. I feel it is also slowing down weightloss.

I am so sorry you're having trouble at 3 months out. Please keep me posted on how it goes after the mirena comes out. Good luck, I hope it gets better!

Thank you all for your support. It means a lot. I am in a much better mood about everything today and your words really encouraged me. This is about me and my lifestyle changes, not about a number. The truth is, a few months ago, I wasn't even thinking about what I was eating, I ate whatever tasted good and as much as I wanted, and it was making me miserable. Now I pay attention to everything, I still enjoy eating, but I am getting control over it and that is really what the important thing is. I'm going to try and be more positive and let the scale say what it will. Obviously if I'm still having issues over time I will address it but I think for now I'm going to sit tight and work on me. I have appointments with my OB and a check up with my surgeon in a couple weeks and I will talk about this stuff then, but I think for now I'm just going to ride it all out. Thank you again.
