Sooo very happy today...the only draw back are my guts from having a sinus/ear infection and being on Azithromycin. Let's just say I never took into consideration the effect of antibiotics on my sleeve.

As of this morning, I'm down 46 lbs from my pre-surgery weight...and while I have a lot to go to get to my goal weight, there are so many things to be grateful for:

- My clothes heap in the basement is getting bigger every week (clothes I plan to donate to either Goodwill or a resale shop, depending on their condition). I thought I would miss them, but they are of no use to me anymore. Yay!

- I'm working out longer on the elliptical machine and pushing myself harder; however, I always choose quality over quantity in terms of how I exercise. Also, I'm planning to do a 10K on Thanksgiving, and if I can run it all, great! If not, I am okay with that. For me, it's about enjoying the journey and conquering a goal I set for myself last Thanksgiving.

- My students (adult, mind you) are mindful of my ongoing lifestyle change and I get compliments from them all the time. This makes me happy as I'm finally able to model both physical and psychological wellness to them, which is important when working in the human services field.

- Holding my sweet little kid on my lap is no longer a challenge for me, and although I still have a tummy that is too big for my liking, my flexibility and agility are continuing to improve. Moving around is sooo much easier with the weight gone. We went on a hayride last week, and it was an amazing feeling to curl up with my little one on my lap without feeling it was hard to breathe.

- Pictures don't scare me or **** me off anymore. It's not the camera's fault I was near 350 lbs two years ago!! At my little one's 1st birthday party in 2010, I was nowhere in sight of the camera (as I was the one taking the pictures). It ****** me off that I didn't have enough self-respect to actually get in any pictures, regardless of my size. My baby only turns 1 once. Then I basically repeated this behavior last fall at little one's 2nd birthday party, damn it. This will not happen again this year!

- The shame I had about my eating behaviors and food consumption are gone, and it is amazing to not feel that cloak that I had worn for nearly 30 years. It is entirely liberating for me, although not a solo journey. I have amazing friends and family members who support me, and I've been working with a therapist for almost a year. My emotional boundaries are in check, and I know that my life is a work in progress.

If you've gotten to the bottom of this, thank you so much for reading. I truly wish everyone on this forum success in your lives, however it happens. Have a blessed day!

Hi

Happy Surgiversary!  You've had a great 2 months!!!

It made me sad to read that you don't have any pix with you for your baby's birthdays at age 1 and 2.  The things we do to ourselves..........(SIGH).  We have the most important job in the world and we should have photo memories of those early years.  You won't let that happen again!

Even though I was overweight when my sons were little, I was able to do everything I wanted to with them, so I was lucky.  I'm happy to learn that you are now able to do what you want, when you want when it comes to being a Mommy with your little one.  It seems I just brought mine home from the hospital.............some 35 and 32 years ago!  Time passes too quickly.

Enjoy your new self, your new abilities, your new life.  I'm very happy for you and can "hear" from your written words how very much you embrace this wonderful gift you now have.

Rejoice in your successes............be proud of them.  You're doing a great job in all aspects of your new life!

Thanks so much, Ree!!

Honestly, it just make it so much easier with the weight off to be a good mommy. I never had knee problems until after I had my her (my legs swelled really badly due to infection and my knee went ker-blooey), but the weight + sciatica + nerve pain + knee pain made for a miserable first year of her life and I didn't want to move a lot. Life is just so much sweeter and it is obvious in these 2 months we are both living better! And definitely, I am photo-whoring it up at her birthday party! Or at least a little bit.

I hope you are well and mastering your lifestyle change as well! How's the chap at the gym?

Hugs to you!
