Why the issues swallowing?

That's where my most difficulty came, too. It was also my largest incision. I tihnk that must be the one that the doc went into with his instrument and it got a bigger workout. The hernia may have made it worse.

I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and in day 3 but still have difficultly swallowing with chest pain. It's both pain and discomfort. My sutures are slightly tender but not painful except for the one above my belly button which is a bit painful.

These are the first days of the rest of my life. I feel like i have gone through a rebirth, with a second chance for a new life to live and a new me to treasure! I will remain on the losers bench for the rest of my healthier life!
