My pre-op diet consists of 1 replacement bar/shake or egg for breakfast, 4 other replacement bars/shake, and 1 normal light meal.  My mother in law is coming up on Sat...what's the best way to control my diet?  Will one bad day kill my diet?  Can I do an extra day of just liquids to make up for it?

HELP!!!

Why would your diet change because you have someone coming? Surely you will just stick to your program.

I have family stay with/visit me all the time and they eat what they eat and I eat my food (or my one bean and thimble of water as my brother jokingly puts it).

If you are doing your "PRE DIET" you want to stick to it... DO NOT CHEAT!! Its called a pre-op diet for a reason.  It will be hard but remember why you are doing this in the first place.  It is to shrink your liver so there are no complications for the doctor and so that you are safe and have a good recovery.

Good Luck, oh and if you need to eat in another room so you don't eat the same foods as everyone else then make it happen.  Its for your own good.  No need to sugar coat things.  You will be just fine don't worry once you get past 3-4 days you will be OK,  Check with your doc to see if you can have more veggies at night if you get hungry they all have different plans but if that's the case then it will help! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

The best way to "control" your diet is to take control.  Does MIL know what you are planning?  Is this why you are nervous?  If she does, then just eat only what you are supposed to eat and do it out in the open.  If she doesn't know, then tell her what is going on or give her some **** and bull story you think she'll buy and do your thing anyway.  No need for anyone to stand in your way to a healthy and happy you!

Good luck!

You must permanently change your lifestyle if you want your weight loss to be permanent. You can do it!

No, mil does not know and I'm not sure I'm telling her.  I'm not nervous about her.  I'm nervous about going out to dinner and blowing my diet.

Just stick with you diet.  If you want to re-order the meals - so you can have the egg or the light meal when you will be eating with her, that's fine, but don't go off the diet.

I agree.. stay on your pre-op diet.. I could only have 2 shakes and 1 sensible meal on mine.. If you need to eat the one meal with your MIL then have a salad with grilled chicken... something light.. If you don't follow it.. then it could potentialy mess up your surgery.. or they might even postpone it.. Stick with it. It is worth it.. anyway.. does your MIL really care what you eat ???  Probably not.. Just my Opinion... Good Luck.. You can do this !!!!

You can do this, I was 5 days into my week pre-op, and had a weekend planed with a bunch of friends, two concerts, tailgating, I sat there drinking my, water, shakes and eating chicken breast.... You can get through this!
