I'm three weeks out and I feel a cold coming. I have a sore throat and a terrible cough. Preop - I would have taken some NyQuil but now I'm uncertain. Any ideas?

The office is closed and I figured if I wasn't feeling better by tomorrow that I would call the after hours number. I was looking for some feedback.

Sugar free ricola lemon are helpful for the throat - I don't over-use them, but they are helpful!  Also - drink, drink, drink!

I use hydrogen peroxide and mouth wash 50/50 mix, to cut the peroxide taste, when ever I have a cold coming on. It usually only lasts a couple days at most when I do this 2-3 times a day. Mix about a tablespoon of each, put half in your mouth and swish,(i can't gargle it) then repeat with the remainder. Rinse your mouth out well. Look on the bottle, most of them say use as mouth wash, just in case your doubting to use it.

Aw Isabelle I'm so sorry!  :-(   Here's are things I might try:

Emergen C but let it sit for 10 or 15 mins so that the fizz goes away since we aren't supposed to have carbonation.   I would check to see if this is okay with the office.

For your throat you could gargle with sal****er.  (1 tsp water to 8 oz warm water. ) Do not swallow.  Also cough drops or throat drops just make sure they are sugar free.

Eucalyptus oil to open you up.  You can put a few drops on a thin cloth than lay the cloth over your chest while you watch tv or when you go to bed..

Plenty of rest.  I hope you feel better.

Take care.
