When MFP projects how much you'll weigh in X weeks...

How reliable is that, in your own experience, or have you paid any attention?

I know, I know. I've seen this question a gazillion times asked for other people but haven't paid any attention before.  This morning because I weigh 160 and it told me I could weigh 149.5 in five weeks, it kind of hit me hard--whoa, I haven't been in the 140s since 1991, and before that it was probably 1981.  And I could be there by Christmas?

Holy cow.

**** just got realz.

That thing is never right for me. Oh, early out, it was! But after the first couple of months, it's always wrong and it always yells at me for eatting too little. LOL.

Yesterday, it said I would be 167 in 5 weeks. I'm 179 this morning. Ummm... no.

Having said that... I've heard a few people say it's usually right for them. The vast majority of WLS people say it's not though. If you've been using it the whole time, you probably have an idea of if it's right or not.

I just haven't paid attention to those projections before.  And if there was any question before, I now know which weight is going to be a gutpunch to me. More than onederland. More than any other milestone.  It's the 140s.

That number--149.5--just absolutely took my breath away.

Getting closer...

What caloric intake is typical for you? It never fusses at me any more, though I think it may have early on.  But even when I stay consistently below 600, no scold.

Anything less than 1200 and it tells me I could be putting myself into starvation mode. My diary is open there (I'm CandyTX). I typically stay at 800 or less.

Weird. It's not telling me that. I wonder if early on I found a way to turn that off.

That'd be nice if you did. It annoys me. LOL! I just hit the button for yesterday so it would bring up for me... this is exactly what it says:

=====================

If every day were like today...   You'd weigh 166.5 lbs in 5 weeks

*Based on your total calories consumed for today, you are eating too few calories. Not only is it difficult to receive adequate nutrition at these calorie levels, but you could also be putting your body into starvation mode. Starvation mode lowers your metabolism and makes weight loss more difficult. We suggest increasing your calorie consumption to 1,200 calories per day minimum.

Yup, that's exactly the same stupid warning I get. I actually did a bit of Googling at one point and read that "starvation mode" happens when you go under roughly 5% body fat.

I really don't think I need to worry. lol

I don't rely on it since I'm doing workouts (Crossfit) that aren't in MFP.  Even some of the food nutritional info is off.  I try to scan the UPC codes as much as possible and if I can't I search around instead of just go off of the 1st listing I see for a particular food.  I normally eat the same things so it makes it a little easier.  I hope this helps. -Larry
