Hello sleeve brothers and sisters!!

How are you all doing? I am doing awesome! I have lost a total of 85 lbs since March 20, 2012!

The weight loss has really started to slow down, almost to a halt! Have any of you experienced that too?

Also, I am starting to experience hunger for the first time since my surgery. I have read from the vets on here that the hunger usually appears around 10 months out. So I guess I am 2 months early?! As I understand it, the Grealin (sorry not sure of spelling) hormone that triggers hunger is severed during surgery. Eventually, the hormone is produced again, thus causing the hunger sensation to return. Thankfully we still have our small pouches to remind us that we can't over eat!

I am having a hard time with this hunger thing? How about you? If so, how are you dealing with it?

Wishing you all continued success! As always, thank you so much for your continued support!!

Lesley

Hi

I have lost 110 and have about 30 pounds to go.

The weight loss is super slow but I am not being consistent in my diet or exercise at the moment.

Need a few day to just be (I've stopped smoking and I have bronchitis so I am eating a lot of junk at the moment, feeling sorry for myself on so many levels..lol ) and then I will kick it up a notch with the personal trainer and I will log my food and cut the carbs way back.

I want to lose at least 8 pounds before the 18 th of December when we go abroad.

As for the hunger.I find that most of my hunger is still in my head.I do have hungry days but I am not so sure it is physical hunger. What I do know is the longer out I am from surgery, the harder I have to reason with myself to not eat carbs. And when I dont listen to myself,I trigger food cravings like mad with the carbs.

Ugg,this is just never going be easy,is it?

Good luck and great weight loss both of you!

Hello Desertmom,

Sorry to hear that you have bronchitis. I hope you feel better soon!

Congrats on your weight loss! You are doing amazing! I agree, the further out from surgery, the easier it is to fall back into old habits. We must stay strong, and continue to listen to our inner voices that remind us to make wise food choices.

For anyone who thinks having WLS is the easy way out...well, they are so wrong!! We still have to watch what we eat, exercise, and eat healthy. This journey has many twists and turns, and we need to make sure we stay on the right path!

Best of luck to you!

hi, i am a March Sleever. march 7th! I have lost a total of 67 pounds since surgery day. My WL did slow down for a little over a month, but it was because of me not my sleeve. I was not eating well, I was eating around my sleeve. I did not do it on purpose, however I just did without even thinking.

I contacted a VET on here and she has helped me so much. I eat 600-800 cal a day, 40 or less carbs, and 70 or more protein. If I eat the way I should I do not feel real hunger. I do feel head hunger though because  I am so addicted to sugar. So, when I get "hungry" I ask myself if I want a chicken breast. If the answer is yes, I am experiencing real hunger. If the answer is no, I am experiencing head hunger.

I am doing well on these cal. restrictions although I know some people have a hard time with that few cal.

My number one advice is to log EVERYTHING you put in your mouth and do not go over the cal limit. It's ok to be a little hungry at night. So many of us get very close to goal but never reach it. I believe restricting cal and carb intake is what has to be done.

Good luck to you, you can do it. You have done AWESOME so far!!

Hi Amberk,

Congrats on your weight loss! You did an amazing thing by reaching out to a vet for continued support! This site has been a wonderful support for many including myself. There is nothing like sharing your experience with others that have walked in your shoes, right?

I will admit that I haven't been as strict with my food choices lately. I need to refocus on listening to that little voice in my head that reminds me to make wise food choices.

Wishing you continued success!

Hi Sleeve Sister

You've done great. I was admiring your pics you posted last week with your daughter. You look great. I was then complaining to my husband saying I thought I would have lost about the same amount as you have by now. I'm down 73 pounds today. My weightloss is about 4 or so pounds a month. So it's very slow.

I have not experienced a big increase in hunger. In fact I was really busy this past Weekend and did not have a chance to eat much and realized that I really don't ever get particularly hungry. I eat more because it is time to eat. I do find I am not quite as strict anymore and I think that has contributed to my slower weightloss.

I am going to post an 8 month post later tonight and will share more of my thoughts and experience.

Great job and from your pics it looks to me like you look great at the weight you are currently at.

I'm down 92lbs since March and I have only 3lbs to my original goal. Now I want to go down maybe another 10 that but we'll see. I've been lucky and never had a stall and have consistantly lost and I hope the last 13 will come off as easy.

I too have more hunger but I try to eat 6x a day and that really helps me. I have found myself over the last few weeks picking at things I haven't had since surgery and that has got to stop. I still haven't been able to break the night time snack habit. Even when I'm not hungry, I will still eat something which is not good even though it fits into my plan and I log it. Gotta work on that one!!
