Weight Loss is a VERY Selfish Game!

I have come to realize that weight loss is a very selfish game. We are constantly thinking about am I eating the right thing. When am I going to eat my next meal and what do I want. Am I getting enough water? Did I eat enough protein. What did I weigh today? When is my next doctor appointment. I need to buy more vitamins. I need to find a new protein powder. Its a lot of I I I, Me Me Me, and My My My. And it should be. This is serious business. We've finally taken our weight seriously enough to get our stomach's cut out, its time to focus on me.

However don't forget that there are people who love you and stand by you through this. Do not forget to stop and say thank you and tell them how much you appreciate it, even if it doesn't seem like they are always particularly supportive. I have made it a point to make my family the meals they love. I have changed my recipes a bit to make them a bit more healthy. I have joined an organic food co-op to make sure I have the fresh organic foods available to feed them. My family members are all losing weight because we are eating healthy. I do not want my children to have to do what we have all done. I am trying to pass my newly acquired knowledge on to them. I try to include them in the decision making process as much as I can and I try to remember to say thank you once in a while.

Its so true Keith. This is a challenging and focused journey. Being grateful to our supporters every day is important. This is hard for them too as they learn a new way to live and support us.

My family has adapted well and looks forward to my new recipes and activity based outings. I think eventually its just the new normal.
