So i bought the container of the unjury chicken broth and the unjury unflavored for my post surgery life. so to be sure i get this right, in the first few months following surgery i have to make sure my intake of protein is a certain amount. so in the event i have problems taking in the necessary amount i'm using the unjury product (added to juice or yogurt or just the broth) as a supplement right?

It helps at the start to drink protein supplements.  I'd say it's the only way to get to the protein goals set for you.  I don't mix with yogurt or juice because of the carbs.  I like almond milk or coffee.  I just mix the Unjury chicken protein with warm water.  I don't know that you'll just need the protein for the first few months.  I was told I had to continue the high protein indefinitely.

Immediately after surgery you can only take liquids.  My doctor has us on 2 weeks of liquids, yours may be different.  You'll want to get at least 70 grams of protein in every day.  The only way to do that is to mix the protein with water, or crystal light (for the unflavored unjury)  You might want to get a variety of flavors so you don't get bored.  You can add it to softer foods when your doctor says you can have softer foods.

Warning on the soup flavors.  Do not let the water get too hot.  The powders can't take it and  won't disolve.

I'm four months out and still have a protein shake most days as one meal to get my protein numbers up.

Unjury chicken soup is my go-to protein supplement. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery and still not eating much; I like the Syntrax fruity favors, but I can't choke down another RTD shake. I like the chicken soup because it is warm (hey--it's December in Chicago, and warm is good!) and not sweet. I make it with half water/half chicken broth--yummy. But check the temp of the water, as noted above. When protein powder clumps, it is nasty!

I recently bought isopure unflavored protein at the Vitamin store. The salesperson told me that I shouldn't put it in anything before cooking. Mix it in afterwards or the protein breaks down and is useless. Just thought I would share.
