Vegan diet?

I prefer the Raw Rice protein. As I said to Ruggie, these don't have much flavor - I add cocoa powder or other such things. They aren't as gritty as most, and since I blend with ice I'm used to a not-quite-perfectly-smooth texture.

Tons of carbs can make anyone fat.  Carbs pretty much exclusively come from plant matter (sugar cane, wheat, soy, potatoes, rice, etc).

A suppose a morbidly obese vegan would be a vegan that chooses WLS, eh?

Why be the asshole?  You should leave that to me.  And besides, aren't RNs known to be more compassionate?

There are plenty of vegan friendly foods that are really bad for you in large quantities. Potatoes are a big one. Pretty much carbs.

Most vegan/veggies I know eat pasta or rice or potato or bread or beans as the main part of their meal...... that my friends is how you get fat as a non meat eater.......

And speaking for myself..... I got fat on all the above plus meats and sweets ..... I was good..... that's why I was classified "Super" as in Super Morbidly Obese !!!!

No vegan here lotusgyrl, but I have been a vegeterian for about 38 years and have went periods in my life as a vegan.   There are now products(blenders) AND packets of vegan protein mixes you can blend with say any fruit, to add taste.  I have kind of always wanted to be a vegan, and after my VSG on Jan 18, I think I will buy one of these blenders and give it a try.  I was at whole foods supermarket and they were demonstrating one of these blenders they put a whole apple in and it including the seeds were turned to liquid.  Anyhow I think it can be done.  The blenders run 4 to 5 hundred dollars.

Ruggie...

I see your point.  Compassionate RN's are a nice idea.  However...I am NOT the RN that will rub your back and tell you it's OK to keep on doing stupid **** that will eventually kill you.  That's what you call your Mommy for.

I am the RN that will keep your ass alive when you have done all the damage your body can take and there are no other options.  I will pound on your chest, shove a tube down your throat, and clean your puke, **** and **** when your family doesn';t want too.  THAT'S what I DO.

And when it is all said and done...you live to judge others for another day.

I hope you understand how vegans can become obese now.

The reason it's important for nurses to be compassionate is that if nurses don't demonstrate compassion, then no one in the medical sciences will be compassionate towards patients.  Nurses are the last refuse of the caring in the medical professions. I won't believe that you are without compassion.
