Dumping = MISERY :(

I thought I had waited long enough after eating to drink, but I guess I didn't. I had less than 2 oz of steak, so I figured an hour would be long enough. WRRRRROOOOONG. Some ended up back up. The rest feels like it's stuck in my chest. Dammit, I was being so careful. This SUCKS and it HURTS..

Sorry, needed to vent and figured you guys would understand.

Are you sure it was dumping? I thought dumping was when food enters the intestines too fast causing bloating, diarrhea, etc. Sounds like your stuff went the other way.

My docs consider dumping when it comes up or goes out. You can also get really dizzy or sweaty and feel like you're having a panic attack.

Not even four weeks out and eating steak?  Wish we could or maybe not after reading this.  I'll still be eating refried beens.

We brought it home and I shredded/blended it. I had some for lunch and had no problems. Dinner, though, was rough. The feeling passed and I feel much better now. It took a good 30-45 minutes for it to pass, though.

Goes to show how different the surgeons and NUTS are...I am four weeks out and just starting phase 3...no steak or red meat for six months and no beans as too gassy...so interesting...

I have seen people post on here that beef is hard to keep down till you're quite a ways out, no matter the consistency. Maybe just stay away from it for a while?

I had steak about the same amount of time out as you, and it didn't sit well at ALL.  I had that stuck/painful feeling for a couple of days and after visiting the doc and nutritionist had to go back to purees and then re-transition through those and soft foods all over again (and let me tell you, as annoying as it was to go through the puree and soft phases the first time, it's even worse after you've tasted solid food again!!!!)

Even though some docs (including mine) don't explicitly ban steak when you get to solid foods, it might be best to wait a bit before trying it again.  I waited a few weeks after that before trying it again and then never had another problem with it.

Good luck, and hope you're feeling better!!
