NASH
NASH (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis) is usually diagnosed with a biopsy. Did you have one? You may have/mean NAFLD, which essentially fatty liver. NASH is the "next step up" towards needing a transplant.
Most people have NAFLD. I was asking that in an earlier thread. I definitely have it. Was told it would resolve with weight loss.
Really???? I'm sorry if this sounds harsh...and I'm not a doctor....but NASH is pretty serious. NASH can kill you. It causes cirrhosis. I lost a friend to it last year. I'd Google it and have your doctor clarify. People with NASH generally don't have normal liver enzymes....NASH is not something that "is no big deal".
I'm not saying that to frighten you. NASH is a step beyond NAFLD, from what I understand. Make sure you're clear on the difference. A lot of folks have NAFLD, and it is diagnosed by elevated liver enzymes. If your liver test was normal, and your doctor is saying you have NASH...I'd ask for a clarification.
Just curious as to what you found out when you went back? I was recently diagnosed with this after my doctor took my gallbladder out and took a biopsy of my liver. Met with liver doctor Tuesday and I'm in limbo now until all my blood work comes back. He is now recommending gastric sleeve surgery (had lap band in 08). Says I need to take drastic measures now to prevent liver cancer down the road.
