Water/tummy full/need advice!
So I really haven't been drinking enough water. I've been drinking coffee in the morning (brrrr!) more than usual but the idea of water has left me cold. Literally. The past few days I've been pushing water anyway and have a new quandary.
I'm not sure how to tell if I'm hungry! This didn't happen to me in warm weather, maybe because I was sweating away fluids?
Example: I had 1/2 cup Greek Yogurt two and a half hours ago. My tongue would like more. My mind tells me, "That's not very much and it has been awhile, yeah, go get some."
But my tummy says, "Nope, I'm okay, don't need anything right now." Of course since I had the yogurt I've had two mugs of coffee and 16 oz of water...
So, listen to tummy?
Listen to tongue/brain?
Listen to your tummy since you can tell the difference between satisfied tummy and head hunger. Good for you. Don't let your mind play tricks on you. Measure, weigh and stick to the portions your dr and dietitian tell you to have at this time. Sip water when you want something to eat and it is not time to eat yet!
I don't have any specific instructions from doctor and dietician that I'm going by since they were much more general and less helpful than what I've gotten here. I'm mainly trying to figure out the difference between "full of water/liquid" and "not time to eat," since 1/2 cup of Greek Yogurt at six this morning really wasn't a lot to go on for hours.
I've had another half cup now and am back to water!
Thanks for your feedback.
Now that you mention it, that's kind of what my doctor said. Or rather, he said that he preferred his patients eat dense proteins and stay full and satiated longer, working toward eating like "normal" people. Finding out how to eat three meals and a reasonable snack or two, rather than grazing all day (which is what I was doing early on, grazing every 90 minutes to 2 hours, but staying within my caloric and protein parameters). Thanks for the reminder! If I decide that 1/2 cup of yogurt isn't enough, I need to eat something different to find what will last 3 hours, instead of just eating more early.
Sometimes I need to be reminded of things I already know!
Is the yogurt sweetened? If so or even if not.,the natural milk sugar could be setting you up for craving. You may never feel hungry again,I seldom do,so if you are thinking " I might like more" that is tongue or head hunger.
You might trey eating more dense protein. it will stay with you longer and won't set you up for a craving. at this point you might think about eating more dense foods, meat eggs, etc, instead of slider foods like yogurt.

You know, my Greek yogurt is a good news/bad news situation for me. It does trigger me to want to eat more and more. But on the days when I give in and just go with it, I lose weight. I know it's not healthy to live only on greek yogurt, but I've seen a definite positive move of the scale on days when I eat mostly yogurt.
I need to get some more dense proteins this week. I've been in a rut with ham and greek yogurt.

OTOH - I really try to make sure I eat at my designated times and not skip them because it's just so hard to catch up on my protein for the day if I skip meals. If it's mealtime and nothing at all appeals I drink a RTD shake or have a baby bel or 2 to stay on track protein-wise.
