Should I participate?
True True..... but I think it's not right in the "spirit" of the event.

You are at an unfair advantage. I would just be honest with everyone and say you are going to participate, because hey a little competition is healthy right? And kick in your $20 but just say you will not be eligible for the pot, but you should be setting the bar. There is no reason you cannot be the cheerleader championing the weight loss effort.
My friends are doing this right now. I was just planning to be the "referee" or something, but they insisted I participate. We decided I'd count half my weight loss toward the competition, and we are going by percentage of weight loss, not total lbs. I still think that's unfair but they insisted and I love that they want to be supportive.
I say if everyone knows about your weight loss surgery and is ok with it, then do it. If you win, you can always split the $$ with the 2nd place person if you choose to do so.

Today was the last day at my office to sign up for our biggest loser competition. I raised hell a couple years ago that our office in Houston wasn't participating and only the world headquarters office/corporate office in SoCal was competing. Well this year, because of my whining they let the Houston office in and I was the first person asked to sign up. I wanted to so bad just to rub it in HR's face but I passed.
