You may have been on to something. I finally like 8 hours of worsening pain vomited a little bit a little bit of foam and a couple specs of food. Nothing to write home about. 5 minutes later I felt like nothing had ever happened. I was hoping to see Jimmy Hoffa's finger or something.

Is it a burning pain? Could it be gastritis of some sort, an ulcer, something like that?

At Thanksgiving I noticed that when I drank a small amount of wine it burned immediately.  I'd noticed a bit of burning before. I ended up going to a gastro just to get checked out and since our insurance would cover it, we went ahead and did an endoscopy. Luckily, I did have just a bit of pink area/gastritis inflammation which is probably what caused the burning, but no other issues.

I had the same kind of pain the first time I swallowed regular vitamins.  They were too big and got stuck in the new stomach opening.  It was a very unpleasant feeling...had to see the doctor who gave me these pills that break food down in the stomach.  I should have thought before I swallowed the giant vitamin!!

I keep an 8oz can of pineapple juice around for this exact issue - it's happened to me a few times. Sip the pineapple juice slowly and it will make the blockage pass. My PCP told me that and he was spot on. It tastes better than puke too.
