Carb Nazi..... Really?????
First.... I hate the term.....
But, time to stir the pot......
The term is not new.... heard it many times before.....
I just read a couple threads on carbs.... great discussions and it needs to be talked about.....
Than I read a blog posting (somewhere online) titled Carb Nazi's......
This person states her opinion..... fine she's entitled her blog, her body....and it's nothing new or unique...... you know....not gonna deprive and torment myself....
But here is the kicker.....this person claims to eat 70gr. of carbs a day.....and a Carb Nazi eats 40gr.????
In a world where anything under 200gr. of carbs a day is considered "low carb" ....
Is the difference between 70gr. and 40gr. make you a Carb Nazi or not ?????

The only people I'd classify as "Carb Nazis" are the very few that get all snotty and critical about it. Most people get that there's more than 1 valid path.

Is that your plan or your doctors plan???
I thought Dr. Aceves was 600-800 and 40gr. carbs ???

Yes, it undoubtedly slows my loss a bit, but since I was maintaining 270# on 1500 calories a day pre-op I was unlikely to be a fast loser anyway.
My sis (who had her sleeve done by Dr Aceves on the same day) made the same decision and is 4# from goal, showing that there's more than 1 way to get there.

BUT... I will chime in that you have medical reasons for doing so, and I think putting that out there and saying it
may make you lose slower... Is responsible posting versus someone who just jumps on the low carbers as being too rigid, when the indisputable facts of fat burning are that lower carb intake gets your body into prime fat burning mode ( ketosus) while for many people, the majority... Over 40 grams of carbs a day will cause at loss to come to a screeching halt... Not a slow down but a stop... And so for MOST people who are seriously looking to get to goal....in 6-8 months...
low carbing iis the answer, also because eating carbs tends to cause craving for more carbs and ups your glycemic response..
so people who are diabetic oR were pre diabetic will find this especially true as we ate very carb sensitive.
I think when anyone is going off their drs Plan on an open forum, stating that and explaining it is helpful.
There are lots of people looking to justify their carbs because they just don't want to give them up... It may also be true people will still loose at first but stall out way before goal. The idea is to do what works even if it's not as comfortable.
I respect your path and your reasons, but at close to 40 of carbs a day I sat at the same frustrating weigh for 23 days!!!
I am adopting 1-2 hours a day of Xercise e use and lowering my carbs again ( I was diabetic and am very carb senSitive
ItiveBest of luck (said with sincerity, not sarcasm...we all have our different challenges)

Sorry for typos... Have to clean this up from computer, phone is too hard!
I know that because I have reactive hypoglycemia I have to stay far away from some things, like fruit juice, white flour anything and pretty much all processed food, but I do fine with a moderate intake of whole food carbs like fruit, veg and whole grains. Is that what you mean?
For me those restrictions are permanent, not just for while losing weight, but it's so worthwhile to feel so much better.

Well, my usage of the tterm just means my body does not react well to carbs! I hold on to all those calories because my blood sugar raises in response, triggering insulin, which by the way is a hormone that tells your body to store fat! Yay! Then I crave more carbs, eat more carbs, react to more carbs. A veggie carb is not what I'm referring to! Lol. I can eat veggies and after wt loss will incorporate fruit in small amounts! Flour products are like crack cocaine to me... I cannot do moderation partly because of my body's response... When you have too much insulin, in an effort to get back to homeostasis, your body will tell you to eat more to use up thd insulin... You over eat carbs again... Constant vicious circle keeping me overweight, exhausted, and eventually insulin resistant eventually where my insulin response is broken! Then came type 2 diabetes ( in remission since my surgery 3 months ago).
After I lose my weight I will still avoid processed carbs, and eat veggies and small amounts of fruit like blueberries. Fruit juice would likely put my sugars in the crazy zone! I have a vested interest in staying diabetes free, this is my second chance!
So processed carbs are like poison to me, and I also my whole life have ONLY been successful iin losing weight when I low carb it..,I did Atkins in the past and I lost weight eating bacon ) though probably bad for my arteries!!)
I can maintain on higher carbs, maybe as many as 100 a day if the right ones. I'm also an immediate gratification person, I need to see results to stay the course... 23 days st the same weight just messes with my head!
All the best

You know what's super cool about losing the weight? I'm visiting my daughter for a month right now (grand baby!) and just looked up the local yarn store. It turns out to be only 2 kilometers from their house, so I have a nice walk planned for Monday.
If you'd told me a year ago that I'd consider walking 2k to score some sock yarn I'd have known you were crazy.
There is a down side - I need new shoes AGAIN. I bought new workout shoes a couple of months ago because my old (barely used) ones were too big. I brought the new ones with me and have been wearing 2 pairs of socks to fill them enough that they aren't sloppy when I walk. This is such a weird journey. (And I hate shoe shopping)
