VSG and COPD?

My mom has COPD, and unfortunately she's put on about 50 pounds in the 7 years since she was dx'd. The number one thing ALL her doctors tell her would improve her lung function would be losing weight.

That's pretty much a given. I know losing weight certainly helped me breathe more easily!

I haven't had VSG surgery yet but I have had 13 other surgeries and I've done just fine with my COPD. It probably depends on how severe it is but they can accomadate breathing issues, it may involve a longer hospital stay but it sure can be done. I wish her the best  because my pulmonary doc said losing weight would definately improve my breathing.

She's had a difficult few years. I hope this works out for her. Thank you, and best of luck with your sleeve. Is it scheduled, yet?
