New Wardrobe - How'd you do it?

I've been in that store and like some of the clothes.  They are good for the pick up this seasons stuff that won't last to next season, but not really for staples like jeans.  There I want quality.

I'm running into the issue, of having the body of a 20 something, but I'm 35.  So I'm conscious that I don't want to dress too young and be "that" person.

What I was wondering is what exactly you need for a staple wardrobe.  How many jeans, what kind of shoes, tops, button ups, t-shirts?  I have like 10 funny t-shirts from Woot, but don't exactly think that's the height of fashion ;)

I'm a jeans/t-shirt person myself so I can't be a big help. I'm just trying to find some things for certain situations. Like one or two nice pants and tops for going out to a nice restaurant or a funeral. I'm a stay at home mom so I'm able do a lot of laundry so I only have two blue jeans and two black jeans.

For spring, I plan on getting maybe 4 capris (probably 2 blue jean, one black and maybe tan) and probably 10 tops.

To me, the staples are jeans/capris, 1-2 dress slacks, a black blouse, a white blouse and solid t shirts (for layering or to wear alone). Now that I'm smaller, I might get brave and look at some patterns and brighter colors. I never wore a dress except for weddings and such so I won't buy one of those until i get invited to an affair.

Happy shopping!

Salvation Army, Goodwill, consignment shops, garage sales, ask friends if they have clothes they want to sell. I also bought things ahead of time, in smaller sizes, so I am not overwhelmed all at once.

Fun to try on smaller sizes, price tags, not so much fun, unless they are dirt cheap.

Cute outfit!

First, congratulations on your success! You look amazing!

I ran into this problem and I started working with a free personal shopper at Macy's, all you have to do is make an appointment with one at any Macy's store.  I was very upfront with my shopper about my weight loss and also wanting to lose more, we also talked about what clothes I needed for my lifestyle.  When I had my appointment with her she only brought me sale/clearance items and helped me use my coupons to save the most money, we also outlined a shopping plan of what to buy now or what to buy later and I don't buy more than a couple of outfits at a time.  I have a job that requires a lot of casual clothes as well and she was able to find some great things for me and also help me make outfits as I went so I wasn't wasting money on something that I wouldn't be able to turn into an outfit.  I highly recommend this service and it's free!

Good luck to you!
