Changing your "look"...

How many of you are trying on different styles and "looks" now? In my avatar, I have a picture of me that the hubby refers to as my "goth" look. I don't think I can pull of goth per say, but ok. He thinks it's hot. I guess he likes the dark makeup. haha I've never been able to wear the trendy styles or anything like that, even as a teenager. I have to say, I'm enjoying it. I can pull off skinny jeans (who'da thought!), and I've always been able to wear business clothes pretty well. Just wondering if I'm the only one trying new things now.

I did, I did, I did!  I used to go to the stores and daydream about what my new style would look like when I reached goal.  I tried all different types of looks, until I found what I love.  I too am wearing things that are probably more appropriate for a younger woman.  I don't care, I am having way more fun now and I am not holding back for anyone.  My husband loves it and thinks I am sexy and that's good enough for me. :)  High heeled boots and mini dresses are my new normal, skinny jeans and a leather jacket with high heals are my new work uniform.  Red nails, blond hair, cat eyes and attitude complete the picture, and I love it.

That's awesome! I've noticed that I'm starting to drool over shoes. I've NEVER been a shoe person, especially heels. I'm ready to start trying them out.

I got a more youthful and perky haircut and started wearing a little make-up again.  My style of dressing hasn't changed dramatically, but I'm now able to wear styles that I've always liked but couldn't get or pull off in size 24.  Even shoes - that's probably the biggest change.  I have wide feet and have always had trouble finding shoes.  It's easier now, and, I'm more comfortable with a wider variety of styles.  I have yet to be able to change my avatar to an actual picture, although I've tried many times, so I can't actually show the difference.  My DH thinks I'm hot, so that's great!  I'm 58, though feel younger than I did when I was 38.  I try to dress my age, more or less, but much more fashionable styles.  We both work in human services, so money isn't too plentiful, but I've found some wonderful stuff at Goodwill - Eddie Bauer, LL Bean, Abercrombie and Fitch, etc., and I'm enjoying myself!  It's great knowing that I can go into just about any store now and find something that no only fits, but looks good too.

Me!  I had pictures of clothes I thought I'd buy when I got small enough, and now I look at those clothes and think they look frumpy.  I'm dressing younger than my years, and if anybody dares say anything, I'm just going to flash and big smile and ignore them!

I'm looking forward to wearing boho and what Lucky Magazine calls "California Casual" clothes when I lose enough weight where it doesn't look ridiculous.  I'll have to reconcile that look, however, with the fact that I'm in my mid-50s.

Speaking of being in my mid-50s, at my one and only nutrition meeting so far my nurse manager picked up a hank of my 32"-long hair and said, "So, [when you lose your excess weight] you'll be cutting your hair??"  That was said in the context of us both being pretty happy with my weight loss at that point, so I didn't take it as a slam.  Hmmm, assuming there's much left after postop hair loss has its way with me, maybe maybe it will be time to hack off some of what I guess is my fat-girl security blanket.  If I do my husband won't be too happy, though.  :-/

Well, you can always cut it to shoulder length and dye it! I dyed mine burgundy with blonde highlights. I also had to have a bit trimmed off because of some silly broad cutting it in 17 different layers and WAY too short..

It's tempting.  Since I've lost so much weight my hair actually looks longer because there isn't so much excess flesh acting like a shelf, holding it out horizontally, if that makes any sense.  It's hanging lower than ever, and it's getting in my way now much more than I ever dreamed it would.

Ooh, maybe strawberry blonde!  :)

Sorry you had a hairdresser mishap there with the cut.  The color sounds pretty, though.

I dressed like a Parisian streetwalker when I was fat and I still do!!!

I go to this thrift store that has everything dirt cheap.  I buy all kinds of things there from furniture, kitchen stuff and clothes for the whole family  Most articles of clothing are only 1.00.  There must be a shopaholic who buys stuff, wears it once, then donates it.  Lucky for me she wears my size.  She buys expensive stuff and has good taste too.  My shop is pretty close to a huge outlet mall that has all of the upper end retailers.

I dress young, but appropriate.  It is hard to describe what is too young, but I know it when I see it.  I wear sexier shoes now.  I have more choices now and it is more fun to shop.  I am always finding stuff that I forgot I bought.  I need to clean things out and donate a bunch of stuff myself.

That's so awesome! I can never find anything at our thrift shops around here. Most of the donations are raggedy or WAY overpriced.
