Thanks for sharing that. I don't think there's really anything we can do to change what happens so we may as well prepare for the worst and then be happy when the worst doesn't happen, or ready for it if it does!

I am almost 5 months post op and I started losing my hair at 2 1/2 months out and at this point - I am shedding like crazy. I'm hoping only a month or so to go - cause it is definitely thinning - I notice it but I don't think anyone else does except my hairdresser. I have always been able to get my protein in and liquids so I know it is not due to that - I have had surgeries in the past and lost hair - so I was prepared but each time - I always wonder if it will come back. Looking forward to not leaving a hair trail soon.

Oh, so this happens with other surgeries, too?  I wonder if it happened when I had my hysterectomy and I just didn't notice.

I lost a lot with my hysterectomy and when I had a 6 hr surgery to remove a kidney. I do believe anesthesia - especially prolonged anesthesia - causes some of the loss. I've also had just loss when undergoing nuclear testing - I think some one else posted they noticed hair loss after a nuclear stress test - so did I. So I'm waiting it out - trying not to wash my hair everyday or overdry, over style , etc.

These pics are in one of my previous posts talking about hair loss.  I showed the two pictures to my hairdresser yesterday and she was shocked at how full it had gotten in 4-5 months.  I started losing hair at 3 months out and it stopped at about 7 months out.  The pic on the left was taken at about 8 months out and the one on the right was taken at 13 months out.

Thank you Jenngirl! and I feel fabulous!  Hard to believe that one year ago I was sitting in my bedroom in my jammies at 5:30 in the evening thinking "is this what growing old is all about"?  Now you can't slow me down!

Holy cow!

First of all, you look great!

Did your hair grow back thicker or was it always that thick?

Thanks!

I have always had a lot of hair but each hair is super fine.  I don't think it grew back any thicker than it was before, but it sure feels like it!

Well, unfair advantage - you have gorgeous thick hair naturally ;-)
