In my opinion when we have wls they should take the gallbladder out at the same time to save us all this extra pain we have to go through including the extra scars on our stomach, lol.

You survived what you thought would kill you. Now straighten your crown and go forward like the Queen you are!
I have been put on Tecta for the acid, for 9 months. Similar to the nexium I suppose, which I also had post vsg. I totally agree that the gallbladder should be an option to have removed at the same time, since the risk of developing gallbladder issues is high post wls. I only had 100 lbs to lose. I imagine the risk is even greater, for those who have much more than that to lose.
I am a GI nurse and VSG is the only reason I was able to make peace with WLS.
This is very true. I was concerned about the scope possibly tearing or scraping the wall of my stomach, but all was fine. In Ontario, vsg isn't a common wls due to the rny being the "preferred" surgery, so I was the first patient they did the ERCP on with the vsg. They were concerned about the actual size of the stomach, saying that a size 7 bougie was quite small, but luckily they managed just fine. Not having the intestines rerouted also makes the job much easier for them too. A very solid choice in opting for the vsg over the rny.
So sorry you went through all of this. What advice do you have about eating fats after VSG if we have our gallbladder already removed? I had mine removed during the VSG surgery two weeks ago since I knew my gallbladder would need to come out in the future, so I just got it out then (I had one gallstone found on an abdominal ultrasound previous to surgery).
I am pretty new to the post gallbladder removal diet too, but I have found that rich foods tend to hit the intestines faster than others. In other words, you better be close to a washroom shortly after eating certain foods when the run**** For me coffee is a huge trigger! My GI specialists and PCP both say we don't need to change our diets in any way, and there is nothing we can do to either prevent or combat a future attack if more gallstones are existing post gallbladder removal, like mine was. If no stones are present, we are supposedly free to eat as normal. However I have found many people who have complained of certain foods that affect the bowels significantly. One non wls person gave a list of Good and Bad foods which seem to work best for us. I would think the ones in maintenance would benefit the most from this list since our food options are much more open. Mind you this is someone else's list of suggestions, so take it as you will, and incorporate it into your diet plan, where possible, knowing certain foods, may affect your digestion responses quicker than others. Basically the theme is low fat as much as possible.
Good foods
Apple sauce, toast with jam only, plain scrambled eggs, plain pasta with low fat sauce, baked/grilled chicken, white fish (no batter), crackers, rice, cooked veggies, oatmeal, cereal with skim milk, low fat yogurt, fruits (bananas, grapes, blueberries), mashed potatoes, broth based soups, low fat cream soup
Bad foods
All caffeinated drinks (tea, coffee, soda, alcohol, chocolate, black pepper, chili powder, sweets, baked goods, whole fat dairy like cheese, and cream cheese, whole or 2% milk, chips, casseroles, all fatty and fried foods, veggies prepared with fats, gravy, butter, shortening, nuts, peanut butter
I'm sure than is many more but this is some of the diet suggestions I have found so far.
