Is my scale REALLY that far off?

Check out Consumer Reports. They will give you the best scales for accuracy and price.
I always weigh 2-4 lbs. heavier at my docs. For me it's because at home I weigh first thing in the morning buck ass naked and I try to wear clothing to my bariatric center. ![]()
STOP the presses!!
I have some questions. When you weighed 171 was it first thing in the morning? Were you naked or clothed? When you weighed 175 were you naked or clothed? Had you eaten or drank ANYTHING?
If you get on the scale and weigh 171 and say for instance go drink 32oz of water and come back and weigh. Your scale SHOULD register that you've "gained" 2lbs, because 32oz is 2lbs. Also your clothes can weigh 2+lbs depending which is why I'm curious as to your clothing.
NOW if you say that you got on the scale fully dressed weighed 171 and then drove immediately to the doctor not eating or drinking and weighed 175 then yeah your scale is off.
As for the food scale, I love the one I bought from Weigh****chers almost 10 years ago =)
Ms Shell
here's my experience in the last week: went to NUT first thing in the morning and on her scale weighed 153.6. she takes away 2 lbs for clothes. i take her number as the "real" one. next morning weighed myself stark naked (nice visual!) and my scale showed one tenth less. weighed at doc tues after work and weighed 3 lbs more, w/clothes, in the pm. so . . . FWIW!
Fresh batteries usually solves most problems for women.
I wouldn't sweat the difference in scale between your house and your doctor. Its not the actually number you care about it the change from yesterday to today. The key is to make sure your scale is in the same place every day. You don't know if the doctors scale has been calibrated or moved since its last calibration. What you need to go by is what you use as your regular way of measuring which is your home scale. Now if you want you might be able to adjust your home scale to match, but its not like you win a prize at the doctors office for what that number says.
