Thinking about switching to VSG

I'm really thinking about switching my decision to have the DS to VSG. I don't think the DS is for me. I've realized I eat a lot at once I don't necessarily eat really unhealthy or really healthy either but I eat a lot at one time and I graze a lot. I never feel full in my opinion I never feel full. I can eat to the point a normal sized person would want to throw up but I can sit down and stop eating and 5 minute later I feel like I'm starving. I am also thinking about switching because I don't think I could afford all the supplements the DS requires and I'm terrified of the malabsorption at 20 years old I'm afraid to reroute my insides when the VSG could be enough for me. To me the DS just sounds damn scary. The only thing I'm worried about is that I won't lose all the weight I need to lose I weigh 327 lbs I want to lose down to at least 135-150 lbs. I guess since its getting closer to the time to have surgery Im just getting scared that I will fail... I guess these are normal thoughts lol

In your posting history you have mentioned some issues that honestly sound more important than losing weight, and I'm coming from a place of having numerous co-morbidities when I was fat.
Please, follow the advice many have given you and get help for the other things before compounding your problems with weight loss surgery on top of it.
WLS is NOT the easy road. You are young - you will be able to come back to the WLS thing again in a few years without the extra burdens. Take care of yourself.

I'm a preop too, but did you happen to see this article? I found it interesting.
Good luck in your decision.

Hi there,
I am back and forth with my decsion between the VSG and the RNY. I sometimes think that the restriction would be enough for me. But then i start thinking about what if I fail and don't lose as much i would have on the RNY. I don't qualify for the DS my BMI isn't high enough i am at 299lbs so my BMI is around 44 and my surgon said that he only does the DS on patients with BMI of 50 or more. The DS is the most malabsorptive of all surgeries. I can understand your concern I learned that one can take almost 40 pills a day!

I know the thought of taking that amount of suppliments is a daunting. If you choose the DS you will have really commit to taking those suppliments so that you wont experience poor health later on. If you are dedicated then go for it. To be honest, the switch is the best of all surgeries. Have you checked out You Tube there are alot of switch patients that have videos on where they purchase their vitamins in bulk and how much they cost. If you haven't already done so, check out PinkFishLilly's channel she is awesome.
it's funny, because I just posted this to someone else, but read my blog - take an hour and go start to finish - I cover as much as I could write down about the VSG - good, bad and ugly. I linked to the second page because it lists oldest last, so start at the end.

Best of luck, whatever you choose.
