Good to know Holli rose, thanks for the info!  I will keep that in mind if I ever go there again, or maybe call ahead and ask.  The same restaurants seem to have changes in their menu consistent to what state they reside!

Thanks again for the info!

This is a great example of how to eat like a "skinny person". Most of my friends that have been thin all their lives are that way because they eat pretty clean and exercise but also they have moments where they eat a great desert or something deeply fried or some other high calorie food. Then the next day they are back to their normal diet. I have found this easier to do in maintenance than it was back in the day when I had 140+ to lose and it's because now I know what it takes to lose and I have the tools to help me. Its all about choices and tradeoffs. There are only a few foods now on my forbidden list because they would trigger a feeding frenzy for me, Chicken in a Biscuit crackers come to mind.... Other wise, once in a great while I may do a crème brulee for desert but you can bet I will be in the gym working off those calories.

OMG!
Love Cracker Barrel. I make "healthy" choices with a sprinkle of fried awesomeness here and there. I took hubby there for Father's Day. I had enough food for 3 days!

If ever there was a place to eat off plan, you found it. I am not a huge potato person (except for chips, didn't really eat much of them) but I love me some potato casserole from CRACK Barrel. Good old southern comfort food.

Crack(er) Barrel is the must-stop-road-trip restaurant for my husband, so much so that the kids and I have grown tired of it. I think the car just goes there on its own sometimes.

Hubby, who has Hashimotos, is completely in love with their trout, which does provide a low fat (not sure about carb) option. Paired with veggies as sides, and it's a redeemable meal.

I agree that their low carb option is a lifesaver. It, too, in addition to Kairk's Moe's finding, got me through my preop diet.

Now if more restaurants would just offer interesting things in clear liquid form... ;-p

I absolutely love Cracker Barrel. It's my "go to" when we're on the road. I can order two poached eggs and some bacon and done. Of course, I love breakfast foods. LOL. It's totally doable in weight loss mode. You just have to NOT order the crap stuff. I love eating there because it's a cute little chain, you know what to expect and they have breakfast. I love breakfast. A lot. LOL :)

I have a "thing" about places that cannot poach a freaking egg... I've almost always gotten good poached eggs there :)

Absolutely NEVER order veggies at a southern food place. Seriously, they are so ladden with crap. LOL. I actually prefer my greens sautted with a little olive oil and garlic. Although I will sometimes boil the hell out of them with a little bit of lean bacon (instead of the "fatback" my mother used as a kid).

You can ABSOLUTELY eat Southern healthy. You just have to make it yourself. I grew up in Charleston, SC. Now you know how I got to be 375 pounds. LOL. Southern food will kill you. I've had to learn how to adapt my favorites to work.

I do really really miss grits though. No way to healthy those up. Although well cooked quinoa helps mimic that mouth feel.
