A pretty special NSV - buying new clothes
I've been delaying on buying new clothes. I've been heavy for so long. I've had so many diets that failed. So many experiences where I lost weight only to regain it all and more. It is hard for me to trust that this will be different.
So I have lost 85 pounds and I haven't downsized my clothes yet. My pants have been terribly baggy, but I was ok with that. But recently, I looked in the mirror and realized that my shirts were also hanging on me like tents. So today I went to the clothing store to purchase a few tees and capri's for the summer. At my largest, 5x's were tight on me. I figured I'd probably skip a size so I took some 3x and some 2x's to the dressing room, and I fit into the 2x's. I haven't fit into 2x's since my kids were born, and they are 27 and 26 now.
I guess this weight loss is real. I have a favorite shirt - just a simple cream colored top that never stained, and never got wrinkled. I've worn it for 20 years. Today it is going to the dump. It is well worn, and it is a symbol of the end of an era. I will never look back. I will never be back to that size again. I know this is different. I've changed. My body has changed. No more fat Carol. She is of the past.

Thanks, Monica.
It did feel great, but in a sweet sad kind of way. All the pain of not being able to control the eating, feeling like a failure, all those limits on where I'd go and what I can do. This is all wrapped up in the end of this era! What a trip! Thank God for weight loss surgery!
best of luck in your WL Journey!

I'm one of the ones who is having difficulty letting go of clothes...big time!
My 3 girlfriends, we've known eachother for 34 yrs, are telling me to get rid of my winter clothes as they wont fit next year. I have some beautiful clothes, nwt, no rips or stains etc. Ive donated 5 bags and have 5 tubs left. We're going to have a "junk in the trunk" sale. I'm hoping to find a vendor area, advertise, and nothing over 20.00, most in the 10.00 range...def not a yardsale. I'm going to split the money btwn a charity and my breast lift fund:-). This is all if i can psych part with them. I think i'm ready.

Hi Tia,
I think its a great idea to have a "junk in the trunk" sale. It took me a while to get to the point of getting rid of the large clothes, but I did get there. You will also, and you'll be dancing with joy!

I'm hoping its a good idea lol. I know everyone wants something for nothing but after all the donations to womens charity, i'm ready to put a little away. I think another hard part is getting rid of my size 20's. I'm in 18/20's now which I had from banding. I cant imaging being out of the 20's. Also, we all know how expensive ps clothes are. I cant imaging selling jeans which have hardly been worn or not at all...paid 49/50, sell for 15/20.00. As my GF says, its gotta be done.

Although I got rid of a lot of winter clothes and even summer clothes
Because I knew I wouldn't fit in them, I hung on to 3 sweatshirts b/c of sentimental
Reasons and they are comfy... But NO! I'm gonna ditch them now they could fit 2 of me now and IM NEVER GOING TO BE THAT PERSON AGAIN!!!
BYE BYE!!
Your so right it's a new era!! Thank you!
Grace
