If you hated water after surgery, how long did it take for it to taste ok again?  Also, what the heck causes such a weird phenomenon?

I'm going through the same exact thing. I wasn't much of a water drinker before surgery but would still drink it cold especially during a workout. After the surgery I cannot stand the taste! I'm 9 weeks out and can honestly say I've only had maybe 8 oz total. Only way I get my fluids in is if I drink Powerade Zero, Isopure clear drinks, or add Crystal Lite to water.

Not sure why but I am now about 13 months post op and water still makes me nauseous.  The only thing I can think is that somehow my tastes are heightened and you are now tasting the minerals that are in the water.  Most bottled water states that they add minerals to "enhance" flavor.  At this point I find that I can only drink distilled water as that is water with the minerals removed.

I also found that fish tastes fishier.

I'm in the same boat. Before surgery I mostly drank juice and water. Now after surgery I can barely get plain water down. It makes me so sad. I really hope this is temporary until everything heals.

I think for the first week I really didn't like water. After that I was fine once I realized I couldn't drink it room temperature anymore. It had to be right out of the fridge cold. Drinks had to have ice for me to drink them. It was not something I was used to, my ice trays never saw much action before surgery, now they're utilized on a regular basis. If it isn't that  you need to find the right temperature I'm not sure what it could be. Good Luck!

first time I had a bottled water, I thought it was rotten!  I made my husband taste it to see what was wrong with it.  He said it was just fine.  But it was AWFUL!!!  I'm 6 wks now, and am just starting to like it again a bit...

Eventually I was able to drink my ice water again.  It might have taken a year or so.  I was a big water drinker before surgery, and still am now.  Never liked sodas or crystal light so I was happy eventually to be able to drink water again.
