Thanks for all of the replies! I feel like I am pointed in the right direction now.  I will definitely wait and see what my new taste buds like before buying any purchasing any quantity.

Could someone address my question regarding how much powder is typically needed for month's supply?  I realize that it may be different from person to person, but I am just trying to get an idea.

Thanks again!!

I currently use 1 scoop a day (20-22 gr protein). A standard Isopure 3 lb container is 47 servings (scoops) from what I can tell. 30/47 = 64% of 3 lbs @ $50 = $32/month.

I have 3 different flavors. Muscletech Vanilla (as someone posted earlier, its cheaper and tastes great), unflavored, and Smoothie King's Gladiator powder.

That being said, the reason I only go through 1 scoop a day is that I drink 1 Isopure ready to drink bottle a day (40 grams of protein). Each of these costs between $3.50 to $4.25. $4/day x 30 = $120/month

The rest I get from what I eat. Note: the skim milk to the shake is 8 gr protein.

Hope this helps,

H

Thank you very much! I think I was trying to overcomplicate the math. That was a big help.

I would recommend having lots of samples ready immediately following surgery. That was one of my regrets. I was on clears for 10 days, and all I really had for protein was Isopure ready to drink protein. I had sampled it pre-op and thought I'd be able to drink two of them a day, but I couldn't. I found them to be revolting after surgery. I really regretted not having some Syntrax Nectar samples for my clear stage. I don't know what your post-op plan looks like, but that's something to think about.

Someone already mentioned the Unjury sample pack, but I second that recommendation. Unjury chicken soup may be of particular interest if you get tired of sweet things. I ordered some other samples from Vitalady. Also, the best price I found for Syntrax Nectar samples was 11 for $15 on BJ's Bariatrics (less than $20 with shipping).

I bought a tub of the Syntrax Nectar unflavored powder before surgery and I completely regret it. I hate the taste. Unjury unflavored was far better, in my opinion. But all of our tastes are different.

Just a quick recommendation for Celebrate Vitamins ENS shakes....I get the vanilla cake batter (YUM). In addition to 25g of protein, it contains a full multi-vitamin and some calcium, so it helped me eliminate at least one pill. The "jug" contains 30 servings, I have one every morning - and it can be ordered on Amazon.

Pre-op, I liked the Body Fortress Strawberry (from Walmart, as another poster mentioned), but after surgery this one tasted odd to me.
