Weird Question...
Has anyone gotten a rash in their belly button??
The last few weeks I have been getting a very painful rash in my belly button. It began after I reached a 15lb lost... and seems to get a bit worse the more weight I lose if I don't remember to treat itl. It heals quickly when I put coconut oil on it (seriously, that is some magical stuff!) but when I forget, it can be very painful. I know my skin is loose (it was loose before I even lost weight from 2 pregnancies nearly back to back) but would loose skin cause a rash IN my belly button??? It just seems odd.
For the record, my sleeve surgery did not include an incision in my belly button, but I do have a scar in there from previous surgeries.

I dont think that is it. It didnt develop until 2 1/2 weeks after my surgery, which was when I had lost about 15lbs, and it clears up completely when I make sure to use coconut oil. The oil heals the current rash and prevents any friction. It returns, usually, when I stop using the coconut oil. If it were a yeast infection I dont think using the oil would make any difference.

I have had this before. I just make sure to dry my belly button out really well with qtips after a shower and clean it out really well while in the shower. if your button is deep, crap can build up in there.
I really dont think it is. I take very good care of my skin, never leave anything yet after a shower and it seems to be happening because of friction, not anything else. If it were a yeast infection it would not clear up at all without a prescription. It DOES clear up... but when I stop using the oil, it returns because my skin is so loose.

It is not a yeast infection either... I did a symptom search and outside of there being a rash, I have no other symptoms. It doesnt itch, it doesnt smell, ect... AND it has gone away! Actually it is not there now. I know if I forget the oil I will get a rash again. Basically I wanted to know if people began having some rashes from loose skin rubbing in odd places, like the belly button. In other words... this was supposed to be more about how loose skin will affect you rather than a diagnosis of a rash...
Let me put it this way... it hurts like when my legs would chafe when I forget to put oil on daily (when the rash has gone away... the oil prevents the friction). It also takes a few days to return.

Hi Jennifer, I think I know what your talking about and yes it very well could be. I don't have any really loose skin yet but I have been getting the infections in my belly button on and off for years. I usually get them through out my cycle or just before or after. I have redness, sore, discharge and it has an smell. I use topical cream. I'm not sure where your from but you can get the cream at the local drug store right from the shelf. It comes in a small tube and is about $8. It treats fungus infections. All I do it after my shower I dry my belly button really well and then out some cream on my finger and apply the cream inside and around the belly button. I'm not sure if you want to try this out or visit the Dr office but either way there is cream for it!
