Thank you all for your caring thoughts, prayers, and wise words. I will work on all the advice you have given me. I don't think I even know where to start to begin to feel again. I ponder, what does it feel like? Will I fall apart and not be able to pull myself back together? I do have a real fear of that.... And the new eating plan fell through today... Hard when grand daughters 1st b day. But the excuses have to stop!! I am allergic or addicted to that stuff and have to love like that! In order to become healthy again!! I DO HATE FOOD....

It is a long hard road in changing emotional eating/addiction.

As for diet, going on the liquid diet for a few days( 600-800 cal) then to a limited choice menu of 3 protein shakes/meal replacements and one meal of 3 oz protein n veggies/fruit  (1200 cal a day) can get the scale going again. Plan your meals and stick to them... as some have said staying away from breads, pasta, sweets etc will detox you from that high carb content.... you know how to lose weight with those diets you had after surgery  BUT the old head is the other battle u will have to deal with the most. Find help...whether in support groups or through mental health, therapy , local woman's resource centers, depression programs, self esteem programs, Cognitive Behavioral Programs etc etc. Work on you.

I personally know being an emotional eater with binge tendencies how much a battle it is to overcome this habit/adiction... but it is possible. Be patient, be kind with yourself and remember you are worth all that hard work. Our neg core beliefs can be so ingrained in us over the years,... they took years to build... and they take time to change.

I hear ya on the peanut butter....

join myfitness pal or another calorie counting website and plan your meals ahead.

And remember..... if you fall.. get right back up, brush off your knees and keep going. There will always be setbacks in life..the key is to never give up.

Barbra,

I so feel your pain I had an LapBand in 2007 I lost 50 lbs and no where near my goal no matter how I exercised and food/protein I was on never could get past that point then started having major problem with the band so I went through a lot to have an revision done to VSG which I just had so I'm 9 days post-op. I'm an big emotional eater and when you can identify that as an problem you are already ahead and theropy is the way to go I will be taking classes starting next week to make sure I can beat this once and for all.  But please go back to the basics with the protein good quality whey protein isolate only without added sugar/carbs have at lease 3 shakes a day a high protein dinner eating the protein, then veggie then carb in a small amount or not at all.  My surgeon told me that we can in fact stretch our sleeves so we do have to be careful as to how much we eat for life time.  Barbara you can do this and I'm so proud of you for seeing you need to make an change you will see and live your goal.

The size of your sleeve will be determined by how much fundus was left intact at your surgery.  My doc said there would be little to no stretching, and I have a sleeve in the 40s.  I have had a few stretces of eating high carb, high (relatively) quantity for a few consecutive days.  There is a huge difference- I don't notice restriction, I am hungry and crave more and more junk food, and my calories skyrocket.  I pull myself back on the wagon- protein first, lean protein, managed carbs (about 100 net per day) and sure enough within a day or two the restriction is back no issue.  So take heart.  There is a chance once you clean your diet up that after detoxing from all of the processed carbs you may be back in business!

Easy meals (I am the queen of this because I don't like to cook):

Premier Protein shakes- still use them

Yes- rotissierrie chicken used in a variety of ways- in a wrap, on salad, in a stir fry, etc.

Trader Joe- look for modestly price fast options there- there is a lot!

Reduced fat Cabot cheese, hummus to dip fresh veggies in, strawberies- examples of easy to pack snacks that keep you on plan

Protein bars (some cannot manage these, but they are Ok for me)

fibergourmet crackers (cinnamon)- satiates the sweet tooth, nice crunch, only 70 cals, and 12 grams fiber, 4 gr protien

When I crave pasta I go with miracle noodle with a mock alfredo sauce (google hungry girls alfredo- I can make it start to finish in under 5 minutues and it is only a couple ingredients)

School lunches- I keep a supply of protein bars and fiber gourmet chips at school, soup, etc.  this way I have fast easy good choices instead of hitting the vending machine or cafeteria.

Hang in there, glad to read you are working on putting yourself back on track- !

You guys are wonderful!!
I have apt with a phd nurse that specializes in eating disorders on Oct 4. And today I am going grocery shopping. I thought if I could make crockpot meals of meat. Any ideas? This would keep me in meals for 2 days at a time. No corn peas white carbs. I started taking Cymbalta about 2 months ago and I think it has helped exsasurbate (sp) my binging . I am going to stop it.
I guess i will have egg and a meat for b fast w my coffee, then a snack. Not sure? Then a meat lunch. I wish i liked cottage cheese. I am trying to create a structured daily meal plan. I will keep my calories at 8-9 hundred a day. I have been in a carb coma for weeks now. Been eating toast with butter and jelly daily 2-3 times a day and sandwiches. French fries. All the bad stuff. So , today is a new day....all your input and encouragement is welcomed and appreciated!!

Hi Barbra,

If you are looking for good crock pot meals you can do a bottom round cut beef steak cooking it down in beef broth, onions and mushrooms oh add some garlic.  You can all so do chicken with the basic seasoning or add poultry seasoning, blk pepper, if you like spice cayanne or crushed red pepper, onions, celery, bell peppers and chicken broth.  Pork tender loin, turkey breast, veal and just have fun with the seasonings the broth just gives extra flavor but you can add water or low fat soup.  I'm now on pureed food so I have pulled out my crock pot and cooking some pinto beans now for something solid I can't wait.  I unfortunate I can't use meat so I'm cooking them in beef broth, garlic, onion powder and in the last hour of cooking I will dice and onion in there.  I love onions.....LOL well that is all I have so have fun with it.  Good Luck.
