Question
I just looked up the nutrition facts on MFP... In 4 pieces:
70 Calories
17g Carbs
12g Sugars
And NO nutritional value whatsoever... Tell her that and lovingly encourage her not to self-sabotage.

Could you maybe buy her a bag of SF lemon hard candies as a compromise?
Speaking from personal experience, about 6 months ago I developed an addiction to Skittles. I could go through a "share size" bag a day. Needless to say, I gained about 5 pounds between then and now. I stopped the candy about 2 weeks ago, and am weaning myself from other empty carbs like popcorn right now. I wish I never would have given in to the cravings. When I was at her stage, I thought I would never stop losing, sadly I took too many liberties with carbs and my weight lost stopped and then I actually put on 15-20 pounds.
Telling her my story may not make a difference, I hope she comes to her senses before her weight loss stops or she gains like me.
Go to your local drug store in the candy aisle and find Brach Sugar Free Lemon Drops. They taste almost exactly the same and they are made with Splenda. So not low calorie but at least it won't be carbs.
Or just kick her ass and ask her why she had her stomach removed in the first place and does she want to be right back to where she was before the surgery by her 1 year anniversary.
The short answer, is you can't. What your BFF is doing is not because she is stupid and has no idea. She is sabotaging herself and she knows it. This is something only she can deal with, all you can do is point it out to her and tell her that if she regains her weight, and she will, she will be in good company. Many people regain, it takes a life long commitment to maintain. The choice is hers and hers alone.
