Giving c25k a go

VSG on 06/12/13
I have been doing the 30 day plank challenge (it's going well!) and I decided to give the C25k first week podcast a go today instead of more elliptical time at the gym. My goal is to boost my cardiovascular capability because when the trainer gives me a straight cardio workout, I start to feel faint at a heartrate of about 150 bpm. Everything turns white and I cannot breathe. I hit that rate a couple of times today but was able to modify my pace and get it back down quickly. Progress!

I was a little worried about jogging on my wonky knee but it's feeling ok tonight. I may try to adapt the process to the elliptical, though, to prevent knee problems. Does anyone know of a podcast for the elliptical/has anyone adapted it to the elliptical?

Also, I am dreading the influx of resolutioners crowding up the gym after the first of the year. I am hoping they clear out by February 1. Is that bad of me?

The c25k program literally changed my life! I started it on the elliptical last March, then moved to outside and discovered a whole new world. Now, I am running 5 miles, 3x per week. In the beginning, I just used the app and adjusted my pace from running to walking accordingly. I wish you all the best!

I am right with you!  I just started C25K last week.  SO far so good. I haven't run for 25 years, so this is pretty awesome.  I am starting at a really slow pace.  (I am not a big no pain no gain kind of person)

I've been doing c25k on the elliptical for quite a while - technically I use the Zombies Run! 5K training app on my iPhone, but it's pretty much the same.

I don't think there are really any special tricks to adapt it to the elliptical.  Go slow when it wants you to walk, go faster when you're prompted to run, etc.
