Hi Gwen, I have a crock pot and use it like crazy. What checklist are you using? I need to probably start gathering some items so that I won't need anything after the surgery.

Oh, I just have some checklist from my nutritionist. It includes things like "practice, at least twice, not drinking during meals." And "reduce number of sweets to once a week and fried foods to once a month." But the last three things are "buy dry measuring cups," "buy wet measuring cups," and "buy measuring spoons." :)
I've been building up a little stash of stuff for post-op, it's all stacked on the end of the dining room table and is probably driving my family crazy :)

I love them for shakes that I make myself since they mix up super well, are dishwasher safe, and the small drinking hole means that I don't have to smell what I'm drinking so much. I saw these recommended on lots of WLS blogs and they seemed like the way to go!

I've tried chocolate, vanilla, and banana from this brand -- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GISTZ4/ -- which is approved by my Nut and had the best reviews of protein powder that I found. (Can you tell I'm big on reading reviews?) The chocolate and vanilla are great and I don't think they smell bad at all, but I'm not a fan of the way the banana smells, or tastes.. it's better if I mix it with the other two, but I still appreciate not having to smell it!
Here's hoping that my tastes don't change too much post-op.
