Thank you! I will try the first pattern. You are right-I like endorphins. I'm also pretty competitive, so I like challenging myself! I'm going to add strength training next week so I am sure I will hit you up with another question. I plan to start with lat pull downs, squats, bicep curls, tricep press downs, lunges, chest press, wood choppers. Plan to start at a weight to do 20 reps for 3 sets. That sound ok?

Sounds like a great routine but go with 3 to 4 sets of 8 to 10 reps and don't do all of those in the same day. Split your days between upper body and lower body. When it comes to weight lifting more is not necessarily better. Quality is key. Focus on form. Also the order you do things matters a lot too. On leg day for instance, always start with the squats. On upper body day start with chest press. Start with your biggest muscles and work them first working down to smaller muscle groups.

Still recovering from the tummy tuck, and still experiencing swelling during the work day and getting sore as a result... I have not been exercising at all, although the doc cleared me for walking.  I just get to damn sore and swollen.  I can't lift anything either or contort in any way that stretches out the abdomen.  Any suggestions?  I am pleased that I now at least seem to get through the work day almost to the end before I start to get sore :)  I have put on 2-3 pounds now and really, really need to figure out a way to get moving!

That's a tough one. I mean honestly walking is good for a lot of reasons so you should try to get 60 mins of that a day even if you need to split it into four 15 min trips. There are a bunch of videos on YouTube that involve using a chair for stability. I am thinking you could sit in a chair and do bicep curls. I mean I would stay away from anything that put any kind of stress on your abs, so that doesn't leave you many options. Here are a couple of others that I think you could do without too much stress on your tummy area: calf raises, quarter squats, door frame pushups (don't stand too far away from the door, the idea is to work your chest a little bit and your arms a little bit, wide steps (sort of like a lunge) say up and down a hallway. You could probably do a bent over dumbbell row without too much strain on your stomach. You can go through the motion on several exercises up to the point where you have to engage your core and then stop. But all of that being said, I think walking is your best bet for now.

Hi Keith and thank you for another Q&A opportunity.

I'm going to be hiking this spring and summer and would like to purchase a hydration pack, preferably 70oz. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Colleen
