Zantac!
I've had more stomach acid problems then you can believe. The biggest thing I can tell you is you're probably eating food too soon. Everyone heals at a different pace, and everyone can't eat as soon after as everyone else can. I would talk to your doctor and go with a prescription acid blocker the doctor prescribes and stick to liquids only for a while. I couldn't eat until almost 3 months post-op. I hope this helps.
I'm taking 40mg Omeprazole and since I've been home, I've had no acid issues. However, I had HUGE acid troubles in hospital and right after coming home from the hospital, and that was WITH Protonix!!! I analyzed what I was eating/drinking though and I noticed that the hospital food sure was heavy on the milk. It's possible that the milk caused my trouble since I'm lactose intolerant and/or milk sugar is still sugar, and sugar gives me major acid (it did even when I was pre-op).
If I experience another flare up of acid, I may add liquid antacid (Mylanta or Gaviscon) to the Omeprazole.
Zantac is not a PPI. It might even be creating bounce-back acid. Try slowly switching to a PPI, you can get them over the counter - Prilosec and Prevacid. I went thru four different PPIs, they would work for a few months, then the acid would come back. The fourth one, Protonix by Rx (generic version) has been working for the past about two years. I take two 20 mg pills a day, morning and evening. Acid can make your quality of life very unhappy, and it may take time to find the right solution that works for you, but it's worth it!
Google H2 blockers (Zantac and a few others) and PPIs.
