Not enough calories!
So I just put my food into My Fitness Pal and I only had 288 calories today! I'm four weeks out and I know I need to try to get more in but it's hard! Here is what I had today:
B - premier protien shake
L - turkey roll with slice of cheese
D - maybe .5 oz of tilapia and a little spinach
I need to try and get up to 400 calories!
I saw your other post that said that you are about to go back to work... Be sure to listen to your body tomorrow. On this few calories, it is easy for your blood sugar to drop. If you start feeling weak in your limbs, or start feeling like your entire body is full of lead, SIT DOWN. No need to pass out on the first day back!
I'd suggest that you take some protein based snacks with you to work. Maybe some greek yogurt if there's an office fridge? (assuming you can tolerate yogurt)

My doctor told me I would be eating 3 meals and probably 2 snacks until I could eat enough at one sitting to meet my goals in 3 meals. I usually have a protein shake for breakfast and one of my snacks. And the rest depends on what I'm working on eating. I do pretty well with a cheese/deli meat roll up for lunch most days. Dinner I do different things (fish, shrimp, turkey meatballs, crab, sirloin steak, and veggies if/when I have room - I really crave the veggies). If I have a second snack it is generally only for 2 reasons. 1. I need more protein, or 2. My calories are so low I won't have enough energy. And if it's a lower activity day, I try to stay at the lower end of my protein/calorie range, and if I'm highly active, I try to reach the higher end of my protein. Usually an ounce of cheese, some turkey based snack, or some cottage cheese or Greek yogurt snack work pretty well and pack a good protein punch.
Wow, that's low!!! Do you get shaky at all? I get a weak, shaky feeling in my limbs if I really need to eat, and then if I don't eat a yucky protein drink, it just gets worse and I get more and more tired until I find myself lying in bed staring up at the ceiling like a big dummy. I hate that feeling...
First, thanks for the post, I checked my cals and I was low too. Ugh, the best laid plans... My dietician said I'd be drinking protein drinks for awhile to keep the calories up while food intake was low. They are 100-200 cals depending on how many scoops) all protein (issopure from gnc) . I'm at week 3 so just one week behind you. I'm expecting to be adding protein for some time. I love the chicken boullion from Health Wise. I've been adding puréed cauliflower to it this week. So exciting...ha, ha.

Thank you for your post...you've helped me realize something important. Even thought I'm 8 weeks out I've had a lot of complications and now that I am home and trying to start again I'm like I'm in my first few weeks.
Today I got in 482 calories, 20 g protein, 81g carbs and 6g fat. I know my goal is for more protein and less carbs but at this point I am just trying to get enough in to keep me out of the hospital so I'll take it where I can get it in. I also got in 44oz of liquid.
I feel better what I accomplished today, thank you!
