Pain after surgery

I have been told that I can take Ibuprofen, sleeved on 2/7, but will have to be at least 3 months post op. For now it's Tylenol. I am avoiding the narcotics because of the nausea vomiting factor.

interesting.  I'll have to ask at my next appointment, my impression was no more forever.  I don't like tylenol so I usually just don't take anything.

Sleeve patients can still take ibuprofen.  RNY a turns cannot .  That is one of the pluses of the sleeve.  Some doctors want you to not take too much of it because it can irritate your stomach but I have no restrictions on using it.

I had very little to no pain from surgery.   After they took me off the pain pump at the hospital,  I didn't take any more pain meds including the  liquid Tylenol with Codeine the surgeon prescribed.  I think I was lucky.

My doctor had me taking ibuprofen for a hip pain I was having, to decrease the inflamation and pain.  I kept the doses low and didn't have any problems.  I wouldn't take any drugs for a long period of time if I could avoid it.

I have zero pain tolerance and I really was not in pain at all.  I woke up with a migraine. That was probably the worst. I spent the first 24 hours with ice packs on my neck. I was a little uncomfortable from the gas, but that only lasted a day and I have had other abdominal surgeries, so I was excpecting it (and it wasn't as bad as with them.)  I did have a PCA pump for 24 hours, I think that kept everything well under control. By the second day I was just uncomfortable.

I've torn a rotator cuff and shattered my ankle - this didn't even compare to those types of pain ;-)

By four days out, I wasn't even taking my pain meds anymore. Like I said I have ZERO pain tolerance, so I guess I'm saying, for me, it wasn't too bad.
