Thanks, I appreciate this!

Since I'm a bit dumb, I swear I was thinking "what do I do, drink all my shakes before noon and then broth for the rest of the day?"  For some reason, this has been challenging to wrap my head around.  :P

I mean, you can do it anyway you want. If I drank all my protein drinks in the morning, I would be dragging by the afternoon. But if it works for you, that should be fine, unless you were given guidelines by your doctor.

check out my blog!

post op clear liquids for 3 days then full liquids (anything that would go thru a strainer , including baby food ,soup ) for 2 weeks then full food

5 shakes is to many calories

5 shakes at 170 cal each (GNC total Lean for reference) is 850 calories...that isn't crazy high for PRE-OP.   I think for a lot of people, 850 calories of less IS a huge change.  And with a protein drink, there is very little carb and fat.   There are a lot of protein powders out there that are closer to 100cal for 25g protein - so even lower calorie.

TV dinners are full of carbs and sodium.  That may be more unhealthy than a high protein low carb 10 day prep.

Thanks for this!  The comment you replied to was mind boggling to me!  My shakes are 150 cals and even five of them keeps me well within the 1200 I'm supposed to have during my pre-op diet!  (The commenter maybe doesn't know that different docs have different plans?)

I'd rather drink those than eat a TV dinner anyway ;)
