Was that HUNGER PANGS?
Woah.. I'm scared now. I'm 8 days out and I think I actually felt my tummy grumble because of hunger. Is it in my head? I mean really...can I be hungry?
I've noticed today that I'm able to get down liquids SO much easier. I can actually take more than a sip of water at a time, and not feel anything - no fullness or anything! I'm so happy...but oh my, I hope I'm not feeling hunger....
It's normal not to feel full that comes in time but not during the liquid stages. The grumbling can mean many things and I still have it occasionally to this day. I don't know if your hungry but I'm sure some of the swelling is down and that will allow more liquids.
I'm a little over three months out. I was so hoping I'd be one of those people who was never hungry again or who had to remind themselves to eat. But a couple of weeks out, I started to feel hunger - real hunger. Like get-me-something-to-eat-or-I'll-rip-your-head-off hunger. Can't tell you how disappointed I was.
HI! I'm 7 days out and I am sure that I have felt hunger pangs already. It's not like before though. They are very easy to ignore or satisfy depending on if it's time to eat or not. Totally different then before when it felt like I could never get the hunger pangs to go away no matter how much I ate!
The swelling has likely gone down enough that your sleeve has some space for churning, and since liquids don't activate the pyloric valve, once the swelling is down, they go down much easier. My new tummy was very loud the first couple of weeks (maybe it still is and I've just gotten used to it?).
Also, if you think you might actually be feeling hunger, it could be acid. I had to change my PPI after 3 weeks because it wasn't working well. I had periods of feeling hungry and also burning as it got worse. I also thought about it, and pre-op, my reaction to heartburn was to try eating something as if I were hungry. Sometimes these habits tend to cross wires in our brain as to the actual signal. You could be so used to reading acid as feed me that you automatically think hunger.
As I'm typing this, I'm listening to my super loud tummy churning, so it is in fact still a loud churning thing.
My stomach made a lot of noise the first six weeks. One night my cat was curled up on me and it let out this noise that startled him. He looked down at my stomach and then to me like he was asking me "What the heck is in your stomach". It is all part of the healing process. I also experience "hunger grumbling" when it is actually acid. My hunger signal is a feeling in my body where I need some fuel. My stomach is not a reliable source to dictate when I am hungry. I have found as time and healing progresses that I can drink more at a time. Dont worry about it, it is normal.
